Here are some pictures of what I call my "Zombat Shotgun Project", or "Alice". I like the sound of that better than my "Main Bunny Gun" which is what it will remain until the Zombocalypse comes.

It started out as an old-model electroless-nickel finished 870 Marine Magnum (I apologize for the lack of camouflage bikini here; while I would love to uphold that particular tradition, I haven't been able to talk my wife into it. Yet.)

Note the trigger lock. The guy at Baron Sports threw that in for free. He also threw the keys in for free too, when I went back to get them the next day. Grumblemutter.

Anyhow, at this point, I figure that I'm maybe 60% done with it:

Modifications, in order of appearance, are:

Tacstar 4-round side-saddle
Cheapass Canadian Tire 5-round buttcuff
Wilson Combat/Scattergun Technologies Track-Lok II ghost-ring sights, with tritium inserts, ably installed by Jason up at Gunco.
Blue Forge Gear Anaconda breacher's sling

I have also been messing around with a cheapassed ATI flashlight mount combined with a Mini-MagLite with IZE 3-LED and buttswitch conversion:

The ATI mount is grossly unsatisfactory. Simply put, it held on to neither the flashlight nor the gun and would start sliding around under recoil. Judicious application of hockey tape (to the inside of the jaws and to the flashlight tube) allowed it to grip the flashlight, but under recoil again the thing started sliding around on the magazine. So I've applied some tape to the mag tube jaws and the magazine and will be testing that out this weekend. And as soon as I can afford it I'm going to get a Surefire forestock. But dammit, those things aren't cheap.

Next steps are going to be:

Add a BFG sling adapter plate between the stock and the receiver; the current arrangement is workable, but not terribly comfortable.

Get a SureFire weaponlight forestock; I'm torn between that and getting a picatinny rail forestock, which would allow me to hang Even More TactiKewl Stuff off it (I start giggling uncontrollably at the thought of putting a laser sight on it, for some reason).

Get the barrel threaded for Rem Choke Tubes; I'd like the flexibility to bring it up to an Improved or Modified choke.

Been having a lot of fun with this; accessorizing shotguns is almost as much fun as shooting them :D.

Thanks! I really like it. I've got an Express Super Mag (Marla) and the difference it fit and finish between the Marine Magnum and the Express is noticeable; not that there's anything wrong with the Express, just that the MM is tighter and slicker and can spend all day outside in the rain :).

i like it i like it:D where do i send the EMT??????:p :p

i have a sweet spot for that model of remi

EMT?

Yeah, I like the Marine Magnum too. I went into the shop looking for an Express Synthetic 8-shot for use as a bunny/zombie shotgun. They didn't have any in stock, but they did have the MM and one of the pistol-stocked green tactical 870's. I just fell in love with the MM.

One of my fav' 870's is the Nickle one.
Looks great. :)

Hey how did you convert your mini mag light to LED?

Thanks :).

There's a company called IZE that makes conversions for the Mini MagLite; takes all of a couple of minutes to replace the bulb and reflector and screw the new buttcap in. Baron Sports carries them.

They're noticeably brighter than the original Mini Maglite, but you do lose the ability to focus the beam. I don't know whether the buttcap is water-resistant; it doesn't look it. It does, IMHO, improve the flashlight.

It's not ideal for a weaponlight, but it'll do until I can scrape together the fundage for a Surefire forestock...

Wow... that really looks sharp! The contrast between the black gun and the wood furniture is really striking (and aren't the Wilson GRs nice sights?).

Is that an Express Synthetic 8-shot or the new black marine Magnum?

They are Wilson Ghost Rings...and yes they are sweet!

It's actually a frankengun - It's a Norinco HP9 receiver with a Remington 18" barrel (should be 18.5" with that extension, but oh well... :D )

I refinished the whole thing in matte black gunkote... it's my new beater/loaner gun.

Sounds like it must have been a lot of fun to assemble :).

got it on ebay this guy in the states makes them he had some for moss and defenders also.he goes under the name "candewman".i just looked and he doesnt have any right now but im sure you could email him and see if he making anymore.

OK so it's an HP9-1 and not a genuine 870.

It's reliable, accurate and the recoil with heavy loads is very managable.

Mods done: Wilson TracLoc sights, +1 extension with side sling mount and oversized safety, Insight light mount and TLR-1 LED light, Winchester modified and cylinder bore WinChokes.

Future mods: 4 round side saddle and possibly a Surefire forend light.

What kind of mag extention did you get and how much ?

It's a factory Remington. I bought it off of this board for $60 plus shipping. I actually have a Choate +2 that I refinished in GunKote if you're interested... the Choate actually fits flush with an 18" barrel - the Remington is meant for a 18.5".

PM if you're interested...
