Since When Is Reloaded Ammo Worth More Than New Stuff? - Now With Pictures

I've probably reloaded about 20,000 pistol bullets over the last few years, and have no issues. $500 for a used Dillon press with 9mm dies. No FTF, no FTE, no misfires. I'm slow at it, and can only do about 400 rounds an hour. I swear to god I will never purchase factory ammo again.

Hmm, it is supply and demand and the ability to produce the product inexpensively.
If you do not like the price do not buy it, eventually the provider will cut production costs or will go out of business.(I dont want to see them close down either)

Here's exactly what I mean. Pictures taken today from a banner sponsor.

RELOADED "Western Munitions" .223 - 55grain FMJ = $116 / 250 = $.464 cents per round.

NEW Federal .223 55grain FMJ = $400 / 100 = $0.40 cents per round + "free" ammo can. And I even overpayed for this, these are available from some sponsers for $375 = $0.375 cents per round!

So they want 6.4 cents more PER ROUND and no ammo can for "used" ammo. Maybe it's reloaded to a higher quality than the Federal, maybe not, I have no idea; but it seems insane to me that you would have these two products side-by-side and want more for the reloaded stuff in the cardboard box.

Any dumbass like me with a calculator on his/her phone can figure this out in 20 seconds!

ive gone through about 1k of MFS 9mm that cost me $200 + tax locally, so far 0 malfunctions..... somehow i doubt a reloader can beat this price. At least i havent seen anything cheaper yet.

I reload 1k 9mm 124 grain for about $125(Berrys bullets $80/K,Federal primers $30/K and TG powder,about $15/K,brass is free),so still quite a bit cheaper than MFS rounds,you can argue about the value of youre time spent reloading 1 K of rounds(for me takes about 2 hours),but I can guarantee that my reloads are a much better quality than those MFS rounds,so I still think that reloading 9mil is worthwhile.

I was going to waste my time satisfying your doubts but sounds like sevoman uses a similar recipe as me and has already taken the time to respond to you

Having purchased a large number of rounds at a "less than factory" price from a re-loader, I have experienced failures such as split or buckled brass, reversed bullets, dud primers, misfires requiring the bullet to be forcibly removed from the barrel, failure to feed, failure to eject, length of cartridge above and below spec, and so on.

It just isn't worth it. I won't be doing that that again!

I don't know who you are dealing with, but that is terrible. None of the above has ever happened to me with either BDX ammo (~2000 rounds so far between 9mm and .45ACP) or ammo I have loaded. I would comfortably use my own reloads in place of factory ammo in any shooting situation I can envision, perhaps moreso as I have seen factory ammo that came out of the box defective while my reloads have never failed me through several thousand rounds.

Ok I am gonna revive this thread with a little bit of a rant. So today I went to a particular sponsor in Calgary for their easter sale and bought 250 rounds of western munitions ammo for $55 plus tax, this is a decent deal but my jaw dropped when I saw the normal price $72 for 250 rounds. This means $288 plus tax for 1000 rounds of factory reloads loose packed. That is friggin ridiculous, I can get 1200 rounds of BDX(124grn rather than 115 as well) for a few bucks more, not to mention that at WSS where I can buy one box at a time I can pay less per round if I buy winchester white box(not even the value pack). Now I have not fired Western Munitions but assuming they are equal in quality to BDX(which has never given me problems) why would I ever buy it? If you look for it you can easily find good quality factory 9mm(IE Speer Lawman). Do people actually buy Western Munitions at this price???
