Since when is this a legal requirement?

I thought place of birth was supposed to be like your safety answer for your PAL info/IWS login. Not supposed to share that with others. It's not needed to verify a PAL online, very curious why come retailers think it's necessary for checkout.
Do you own restricted firearms?

Yes but the last time I bought was probably 10 years ago. I see it glossed over some posts on the first page, I guess it is still required for restricted? My bad.
What is even left to buy for restricted rifles?
Not much - but that isn't nothing. Looking at Tenda's webpage I see some semi auto shotguns with 14.5" barrels.

The “gun club” slot. I came cross that years ago. The computer wouldn’t take my order, phoned and the staff said just put a zero there

I had a place ask me for my PAL to buy a scope
That's actually becoming common with a few dealers, not because it's a PAL item, but because apparently higher end optics are a common fraud purchase with stolen credit cards for whatever reason and the stores are trying to get more information to verify if the customer is legit/protect themselves from charge backs. (Not saying I agree or disagree with the practice)

The way I see it if you don’t like how a store operates don’t shop there. So far I have two places I won’t spend money at due credit card fraud. Starts with FOC. And one in Quebec due to rude attitudes of two different employees. Starts with R.
Any issues I have had I always emailed and asked questions. If I find stores a pain to deal I just move on to another store.

Maybe they can take 2 seconds and update their website that it's for restricted only, leave blank for NR.

Wonder how many new people willy nilly giving out their info for stuff that isn't required. Then tell their buddy that the info is because this store collects it.
Dont start hoping for tenda to improve their website.
Its brutal and has been as ling as i remember.
Good prices though and zero issues otherwise afaik.

Personally I've seen this on multiple sites for years. Generally speaking though, it isn't a mandatory field and can be skipped. From a web design point of view its easier to have the fields there by default.

Yea I told them that i wasnt trying to be a jerk, but out of principal I would not be giving my pal out for the purchase

But only takes 2 seconds to write a short statement to leave blank if buying a NR.

But then again, these web businesses cannot even use actual product pictures and hide behind a small disclaimer. Like when I bought am optic plate for a shadow. What they showed and what I got was 2 different things. If they used the photo of what you get. I'd shop else wheres.
