A problem with my Chaparral clone (Colt 1873) single action revolver:

From full ####, when the trigger is pressed the hammer stops at the "safety notch" and won't go into "full down" position no matter what. There's been a bit of work done on the hammer for an unrelated issue but I seem to recall this problem from before as well. Am I missing something obvious? (I'm not especially attuned to single actions).

On my Pietta clones the cylinder pin has two notches in it. If you push it in further to catch the one closest to the front of the gun then the pin sticks back into the hammer area and blocks the hammer from falling fully. I'll bet this is what you did when you cleaned and reassembled the gun. Just push the cylinder pin catch in and pull the pin out slightly so it snaps into the other notch that allows the pin to lock in place with the first notch near the end showing out the front.
