Single Action Revolvers for Serious Self-Defense

Range time, and practice like you fight :D I was at the range one day where the fellas were doing exactly that 7 meter draw and shoot 2 rounds(man tgt)
Anyway the SAA guys took a seat to watch, not I, I fanned 2 in there 4'' spread from the hip(center mass). Anyone can do that if practiced.:) The fella that put the demo on for everyone at the start, checked tgt's, when he come to mine he was shocked that I got 2 into the tgt in the time limit given (whistle). I did not see a big deal in getting off 2 rounds that quick.
If SA was the best choice, that's what soldiers and LEO's would carry
Its cause they are wennies:D

If someone did a home invasion and threatened my family I would not hestitate to use lethal force. However in Canada my handguns (wheel guns or semi autos) have to be locked up tighter than a nun's you know what. So by the time I got to them I would probably be dead. So for personal defence you could have a full auto and it probably wouldn't help. But my pistol grip security 12ga with slugs only needs a teeny cable lock or trigger lock and would be much easier to get to. However this is Canada and the courts will consider the guy I wound or kill for trying to rape my wife or assault my children the victim and I will go to jail for trying to protect my family. Now thats justice!!

Admitted it is not the best at most everything important (reloading, ammo capacity, ease of use) but if you can hit with it, then why the hell not? As for what IPSC shooters use that is a whole other story? A Ruger Blackhawk is about $550, how much for a race gun?

I am a very happy owner of a .45 Ruger Blackhawk...

I have read many of Phil Elmores articles...

Elmore is a self publishing, self promoting, self proclaimed weapons and combatitives expert who in his own mind is a modern samurai who would destroy professional fighters is a streetfight. In my mind he is an overweight nerd with delusions of relevence and a well promoted blog.

His opinions are not worthy of serious consideration IMHO.

My beloved Ruger is a very cool firearm, but it's not a serious self defence pistol.

I would say .45colt loads are pritty seriouse... But concealed carry of the guns is not that practical. I know allot of ranchers in montana and other states have a single action .45lc at there side.

If I need to conceal it: my SW mod 12 Airweight

If I don't need to conceal it: my G17 with a mounted light

If I need to pistol whip someone with it: my NP-29 :D

If he's wearing body armour: my Ruger SRH .454 Casull

If I know there's going to be trouble for sure: my SKS
