Whats the cost for getting a scale tuned?

I have a 5-0-5 that wont read consistently - any advice or resources?
Consistency would have to do with the bearing surfaces. The only time mine was off was when it had cat hair on in the pivot area.
I would clean it extremely well and look for any wear and tear.
I tried honing the knife edges on mine. It definitely improved but it will still be out 1/10 of a grain about 1 out of 5 times when I lift the pan and place it back on the scale.

Well that is not very good. Mine is very consistent, I have a 5-10 as well, and they match each other. My 5-0-5, I replaced the pan with an enclosed one and had to open the pan and adjust the weights in it. I levelled the foot on the scale to allow even up/down movement. Used my RCBS check weights to confirm. I cut a small piece of foam to put under the pointer when it falls from lifting the pan off. Nice soft fall now instead of the clunk.
You probably already know, but make sure you have no vents blowing on the reloading table as it can make your zero wander.

I’m not real Facebook savvy, did a google search on tuning reloading scales and he popped up so I messaged him.
I’ve since found another 5-0-5 on the EE and purchased it. I’ll wait for it’s arrival and see how it stacks up.
There is no air movement in my reloading area. I zero with the check weights also. I’m going to try the foam and see if things improve.
I bought a magnifying glass today and the knife edges look sharp and clean. I had to hone them due to the previous owner butchering them with a file. It greatly improved the consistency but not quite to the point of perfection.
My 505 was a tad bit sticky, cleaning and polishing the pivots and knife edges didn't do much. In desperation I removed the damping magnets, cleaned that area well and re-assembled it. Problem was gone.
It may have been some metal filings or magnetic debris upsetting the magnetic fields, who knows?

Metal filings wouldn't upset the magnetic field enough to prevent the damping effect, but if there's enough of them (or enough filings plus dust), that could bridge the gap between the magnets and the copper bar that rides in between them, causing unwanted friction against the copper bar, which could prevent the beam from finding its actual level position.
I looked at my RBCS 5-10 just a week ago and found a surprisingly large amount of magnetic crap sticking to the magnets - not enough to cause problems, but more than I wanted (ideally, zero...). Cleaned them out with a shop-cloth and my groups magically shrunk to 0.0001 MOA. (Or would have, if it wasn't for the idiot behind the trigger...)
