Single or double trigger for SxS

I use both styles. But I prefer double triggers, especially on a side by side and while hunting. It is mostly a matter of personal taste. I have a "quick' shooting style, and find that I can instantly choose which barrel to fire when I have two triggers, but with a single trigger I pretty much never switch the selector during a flush. There just isn't enough time for that ( at least for me). I prefer a single trigger for target shooting with a dedicated target gun.

I agree with the two trigger opinions. All of my sxs's have two triggers and there have been many discussions over the years with a friend that I have started with why is your shotgun missing a trigger?

I stand corrected. I guess its like anything, with practice and repetition the necessary muscle-memory can be developed to do it seamlessly.

It is a rare practice. I have never heard of anyone using a selector on the flush either. I guess we both learned something.

Shot double triggers all my life & 35 years in Cowboy Action Shooting. Love it. Had a single trigger Browning sxs & sold
after 2 years of use.

All my Upland bird shooting is over Pointing dogs......all my SxS's except for one have 2 triggers........99 percent of the time its the first trigger that gets pulled, all my guns are choked IC/Mod or Cyl/IC...what im getting at is for me shooting birds over pointing dogs, the single trigger SxS works fine......I have one vintage SxS an Ithaca early Flues that was factory ordered with a tighter choke right barrel (first trigger) and a more open choke left barrel (second trigger).....that one took a bit of getting used to.....the one SxS I have with a single trigger is a modern one with chokes, all the rest are vintage with fixed chokes and 2 triggers , the way they should be.

Single or double, it makes little difference....if you like the gun and it fits as it should then you would be surprised at how fast the rest just comes together.

Canvasback....I don’t think you would frown upon a single trigger H&H

All best

Perhaps not Claudio but I don’t see one in my future. Lol. Nice to see you here.

Got 3 SXS shotguns..only one has a single trigger and sometimes I end up pulling on the inside of the trigger gard reaching for the rear trigger which aint there...lol

If this the Claudio I think it is......I want to say thank you for that sweet little 20ga Fox Sterly you let my friend Frank show me( and which I bought}, it killed a lot of birds this past Fall both Huns and Sharps out west and deadly on Grouse here in Ontario 2 triggers and all!! Now I have been bitten by the Fox bug.

It is...and you’re very welcome
Frank told me you had a ball out west and are loving your new little Fox...now you need a 12 to go along with it!

All best

I hunted upland and shot clay pigeons for a good many years with my Dad's old Tobin double 12 ga. Both barrels are full choke and has double triggers, so I doubt if I could manipulate a double with a single trigger and two different chokes at this stage of the game! I had a heck of time getting used to using a pump gun, because bought a nice used Weatherby semi years back and shot it at clays until it fell apart, then used a Beretta 301 for clays.

I can admit a slight sin. I own a 410 sxs with only 1 trigger but both barrels are full choked and the gun is for my daughter of which im not sure if shes going to shoot left or right yet. Shes not 3 yet. However on the skeet field i hate to say i kinda like it. My wife prefers the single trigger as well. Im still a double trigger guy on a sxs. Growing up I always it was stupid looking then one day the truest gentleman ive ever known handed me a holland n holland royal to try. My world changed. The next week i went to a gun show and bought the only sxs dual triggered gun i could find that fit well and sped straight to the skeet range to try it out. Now after more than 70 thousand rounds thru that gun and many more thousands of rounds thru various other doubles they just feel right having 2 triggers

Byron, it was my son's 16th birthday in October. He received a present I bought for him in the spring of 2005....when he was six months old. A Citori White Lightning in 16 gauge with single trigger. It's the only single trigger double I have had. Good planning for your daughter. When I bought it the 16th birthday seemed impossibly distant. It sneaks up fast!

I have guns with single and double triggers. I prefer double triggers but I can switch to either with no problem. I can also miss with either, no problem.

My exact findings, especially on the missing part!
I once owned a fantastic SXS Fausti Dea 28 gauge with a single NON SELECTIVE trigger .
Didn't matter which choke was in which barrel, that gun simply flattened birds and it still does with the new owner.
