I want to buy an old single 20. I just want something light i can carry when checking my snares. But id also like to have the ability to use 3" shells. Im not lookin for anything fancy just an old cooey or winchester. What models came with a 3" chamber? I think $100 should be enough to spend on one in deecent shape. Whats everyones thoughts?

Cooey's are fine as well as Harrington Richardson and Iver Johnsons. You can get a decent one for $100. Though if you feel you need a 11/4 oz. load I'd go with a 12 gauge.
Ammo's cheaper and a 12 gauge slug performs better.

My cooey 840 12ga was in excellent shape, a safe queen, 3" camber full choke for $125 at gun show.
The EE must have some used condition ones for less.

Cooey and or winchester is the way to go..If you can, try and get an original H.W Cooey model 84 / the winchester western-cooey 84, as these were better made with all metal and walnut, not metal and pot metal parts and maple or birch stocks that the later models changed into. Some of the 840's do have walnut stocks..not all of them, but the earlier ones with the duck on the pistol grip.
