I've recently developed an interest in brake action/single shot handguns. There's just something interesting about the simplicity of those guns and it's completely opposite from the guns that I have/shoot now...

So what is available in Canada? (NOT interested in black powder). Would prefer .44mag, .45LC/.410 or even a 20ga. with a "short" barrel 10" or less.

I know there's T/C makes a few. BTW what is the diff. between G2 Contender and Encore?

Anyone else makes single shot pistols?

I have a T/C in 44 magnum. I don't like the reach for my trigger finger. I don't really have small hands either. Years ago I tried a T/C with I think a Pachmayr grip and it fit well. I was too cheap to buy it at the time so I have put up with other less optimum options.

Looks like a 10 inch. I've had a few T/Cs over the years, in numerous calibers (lots of different barrels, 22, 222, 223, 7mm TCU (twice), 7mm Int-R, 30-30, 30-30 AI, 357 Herrett, 45-70, a few others I forget at the moment). They are a fun gun, amazingly accurate. the G2 was an improved Contender, and the Encore uses a different frame and lock up system to allow the use of much more powerful cartridges (243, 308, etc). I never found the fit to be a problem, and I have small hands, so take it for what it's worth. Good guns. - dan

what's the barrel lengths on the one in you pic?

10"

As far as fit I am comparing it to a cocked K frame revolver. With the revolver I can have the trigger on the first joint of my finger. With my T/C I can only use the tip of my finger while holding the grip the way I feel comfortable with. I can hold higher up on the grip but it just doesn't feel right to me. Some day I will concentrate on this gun. I have not shot it in years. One of many.

T/C Contender is THE BEST way to learn to shoot properly. It's accurate like rifles and when you pull the trigger and miss you know that it's YOU, not a handgun. The only other handgun I could suggest to somebody who wants to learn to shoot properly is one of FA revolvers, but they are pricey. I don't think that you need Encore, it's made to handle rifle cartridges like 30-06 and larger.

Contender is available in 22LR, 357, 44, 30-30, 223 and other, some exotic calibers. Used one is about $400-450, spare barrel $200-250. Get one, you wouldn't be sorry. Once you learn how to shoot, you can sell it for the same money.

P.S. In now way I am suggesting that you do not know how to shoot. However, how many of us know how to shoot PROPERLY; myself included.

My TC Contender looks just like that ( same grip and fore arm ) I got a 357 Max barrel that I use for 357 Mag and I got a 22LR Bull barrel with a scope mount.

I paid $550 Used Shipped off the EE for mine. Came with 2 barrel. Its a fun accurate gun and makes you place yours shots...
