Hi all. I just picked up a Single Six Convertible from a guy on the ee. The gun is very nice, however the 22lr cylinder is numbered differently than the pistol last three in the serial number and the 22 wmr cylinder has no markings at all. I'm guessing it will have to go to a gunsmith to ensure safety of use now, timing, etc?

i must admit i never looked at the cylinders on my Ruger before, but when you posted i went and took mine out of the safe to have a look.

im not sure if the numbers on there really mean much if anything.
i know 100% that both my 22LR and my 22WMR came with this gun, yet the 22LR only has 3 numbers on it and only 2 of those are anywhere in the serial number and definitely not in the order listed on the pistol.
the 22WMR has 6 numbers on it and 3 of those are the same and in the same order as the pistol's serial number but the other 3 are kinda garbled and i cant tell.

so im guessing that those numbers don't really mean much if anything.
as i said my 2 cylinders came with my pistol from the factory.

you know what, after looking at them a little more and cleaning them up some im gonna change what i said.
BOTH my cylinders have the last 3 digits of the serial number etched into them.
my 22Mag one has 6 numbers but 3 of those are garbled - so im assuming they had 3 other numbers and then X out and then put the right ones on.
the 22LR one they are just a little lop sided.

so ya both mine have the last 3 numbers of the frames serial number etched on them.

and my cylinders sound different than yours.
my 22LR is blank and my 22Mag one is labeled all around the cylinder.

ill take some pics, sec.

Thanks for the reply. The seller may have mixed them up with his second Single Six. If not, I'll have to have a gunsmith ok it I guess. Seems to lock up nice though. Maybe marking methods changed over the years?

I've picked up cylinders on eBay and as long as the B/C gap was good they all functioned fine. Get a paper grocery bag and cut a hole for the muzzle they fire a cylinder full with the gun inside and the barrel out to make sure you aren't getting spitting from the B/C gap and if not, you should be good to go...

Thanks for all the reply's. The seller just mixed up the cylinder with another Single Six he sold at the same time. Swap in progress.
