Single Stack/1911 Society

I got a lot of responses to an offhanded comment, so who would be interested in a 1911/Single Stack Society league or matches?

I'm not sure where you're located but I'd be game. We run a single stack (sub)division in our IPSC matches and it's pretty popular with the crowd...

In IDPA there the CDP division is built around the single-stack 1911.

You can shoot any .45 (and it must be a .45 ACP) - but it must be loaded to the division capacity of 8 rounds in the magazine. Even if you have a Glock or a Para, you don't have the advantage of additional rounds.

There is still an advantage, check the mag funnel ,and the mag is tapered. it should be a single stack and not double stack loaded to 8, some of the SW and Sig 220 I think will qualify, just a suggestion

Designing the stages for the April Sharon Level II now. All stages will be geared towards Single Stacks, in fact even the revolver guys should like them.

For the IPSC Level II, yes, of course. For the Single Stack matches, no, I would be following the US rules on this and it's a 1911 only match.

Lol...perhaps I should have made a new thread about the Sharon Match, it will be a regular Level II, open to all divisions, but the course designs will be such that revolvers and SS guns will not be doing static reloads or running dry, there will not be any 4 target banks and very few 3 target banks.

If it works out and a lot of SS shooters show up and enjoy it I will seriously look at creating the Single Stack Society up here
