Ss

I'm still shoot'n my single stack, so,aahhhh, yah, I'm in for single stack division.....I'd still shoot it in the regular std. division, as now....

We could however tablulate the SS scores separately just for informationaly purposes.

Thats a great Idea, I was going to track how many shooter were shooting a SS at the match, I can take that and pull the scores out.

Since it's not considered a division yet, I doubt it would get published on the IPSC Ontario site, but I could put the scores for SS only up on mine.

Maybe we'll do a Quebec single stack only match. This rule change just made me stop shooting IPSC all together. Annoying:mad:.

I think that rule change made a few people mad, but it's not just about having 170mm mags. It's easy to blame IPSC because they write the rules, but the course designers need to shoulder much of the blame.
I've shot a couple of stages recently where you shoot 9 rounds (4 targets and a steel) from every position and a lot of stages where the clear design was just to max out the round count. If you go to the Single Stack Society webpage, they made the rule that courses of fire should not be more than you could reasonable shoot with one mag in the gun and two spares on the belt, thats a max of 24 rounds, most though are below that. I think the average at the SS Nationals was around 18.
The stages I put together for the April level II will have no 4 target banks and very few 3 target strings, there will be more movement and lots of opportunity to reload, even the revolver guys should not have to do any flat footed reloads.
Poor course design has much to do with the need for 10 round mags.
To be honest more rounds in the gun is always better, but more and more courses are set up for just the 10 rounders to compete and no thought to other guns or revolvers.
I'm not saying make it "revolver friendly", we've seen those courses before and shooting 5 banks of 3 targets is no more exciting than shooting 4 banks of 8 rounds.
I pulled out my match book from the '92 North American which Sharon hosted. This was from before the days of round count limits for stages were put in the rule book. The match had 30 stages and the round counts were 6, 6, 36, 10, 10, 6, 6, 6, 9, 26, 6, 5, 22, 15, 6, 6, 6, 10, 2, 2, 6, 30, 8, 6, 6, 6, 10, 11, 6, 10, the biggest fault in them was that the 10 round stages and the 11 round stage all were shot static. But the rest could easily be shot with any gun.
The average stage size for most if the US Nationals I have shot was about 18 rounds and looking at three past match books, from the US Nationals, I found only 1 32 round stage! And they have Hicaps!!!
Our Provincials last year had stages that were 9, 16, 32, 8, 16, 32, 8, 16, 32, 8, 16, 32...see a pattern? And I don't mean to pick on that match in particular, it is just typical of what we see at matches these days. As I write this I scanned through a number of scores from matches on this years calendar and even I am shocked at the amount of 8 and 9 round speed shoots, 16 and 18 round mediums and 32 round long courses in fact there was only a very, very limited number of stages that did not end up with something other that these numbers, I think I saw only 1 six round short course, a couple of 20's and a couple of 24's and that's after two months and 19 matches! With almost a hundred stages shot this year we have less than a handful of anything other than 8, 16 or 32.
Before you get too angry with IPSC, have a chat with your match directors.

WinMss allows you to add a "tag" to any shooter. It's an open field so you can use any label you want

You can also publish the results by "Tag"...so they would be recalculated using only those who were flagged with the appropriate tag.

It's exactly the way the system handles publishing by Classifiction...

So you could publish a normal set of results...then pull a second set of results that are sorted by the tag (SS).

Thats a great Idea, I was going to track how many shooter were shooting a SS at the match, I can take that and pull the scores out.

Since it's not considered a division yet, I doubt it would get published on the IPSC Ontario site, but I could put the scores for SS only up on mine.

sharon april

can anyone go to the sharon april shoot?

i am in IDPA in windsor but would like to shoot some in the toronto area, as i am there frequently.

Borrow 'em back! We talked today and we will likely add a couple of stages, some were concerned that shooters might not show up for an 84 round level II and I said I would only bump the round count with more stages, not more targets in the existing stages, so it should be close to 100 rounds and if that goes well I might try to use this match as our annual Single Stack match starting next year.
