Any one else a fan of singlestack 9mm?? I used to love the wondernine when it had full capacity magazines. Just can't get excited over a neutered gun anymore.

With the plethora of small grip, double stack pistols available, the single stack
9MM certainly doesn't make sense from a tactical point of view...
However, some of the sweetest pistols to shoot..Colt Commander, STI Trojan,
etc, are in that very same configuration!
It just comes down to what fits your hand, and eye!:D

foxbat, please explain. I have a Llama Especial, Star BM, Star Model B, two Kahr 9mms, S&W M39-2, and a Walther P1; these are all single stack, I shoot them, and I feel well protected when using them for CCW. Am I missing something? Regards, Richard:D

Richard, I was referring to the prevailing modern notion that
'more rounds = better protection'.....
I personally agree wholeheartedly that accurate, bullet placement is infinately more important as a 'fight stopper' than the 'pray and spray' notion advocates who feel magazine capacity is the be all, end all.
The current trend in police sidearm selection towards high capacity autos is the best example of this school of thought.
IF I were given the choice, in a CCW context I would feel well armed carrying any of the units you mention.

If I were going to carry a 9mm single stack, hands down it would be a Sig 225. Now that being said, with the exception of 1911's, the majority of single stack 9mm pistols are no longer available for purchase under our laws. Find a good used one if you have 12(6), if not get a 1911.

My pick in this category is the P7M8, as I don't have prohib. status.
But I could certainly live with the Sig225, if I had the paperwork!

Some of the best 9mm guns ever made - HK P7M8, Sig P210, S&W 952 - were single stack. I'd take any of those three over a modern double stack any day.

I have three WWII P.38's (cyq AC SVW) and a BYF42 Luger. All nice shooters.

Yikes...

Aren't those suckers getting too valuable to shoot? I love the P38's, but here in the U.S. quality WW2's with all the Nazi stuff on 'em are too pricy for a shooter.

I have to play with the poor sibling.. The P1.

P38's are just neat old pistols.. Do you ever visit the www.p38.com website? I might have the link incorrect, but those guys are serious P38 lovers.. If you have any questions about yours those guys can get the answer for you.

Best Wishes, and contratulations on having three "real" P38's!

I've got a Smith 539 single stack that handles and shoots great. And with the 9 round mags I have, I hardly feel short changed, compared to a double stack like my 469.

With the magazine limits in Canada, I just don't see the need to go to such a bulky magazine/thick(er) grip just for 2 extra rounds hence the singlestack.

I recently purchased a couple of P7M8's amazing little gun. I will check out the STI ranger II since that has a shorter barrel too.

The ranger II is due in December. I ordered one then discovered a shipment of P7M8's. I'll test and compare the two guns.
