Single strap vs. Double strap scope rings? Does it make any 'real' difference?

Looking for some expert advice if anyone has some.

I'm looking to mount a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 4-12x40 on a NS522.
My understanding is that the rifle has a 3/8" dovetail.
I was recommended to try some BKL rings.
I'm trying to decide between the single strap (0.60" long) and the double strap (1" long).
Other than aesthetics is there any 'real' benefit or noticeable difference (performance) between the two on a .22lr rifle?

I guess if you like extra weight and the horrible ugliness of the double strap rings, that might be a benefit. Otherwise just go with the single.

Any bench rest shooters have anything to say?

No bench rest shooters are going to be using BKL rings. It's a .22. Literally any ring will do.

I had BKL rings on a CZ452. They seemed to be a very well made product.

I have to agree with the previous posts, no need for the double strap rings.
