Hi , I have a nice side by side 12g single trigger , don’t know the brand all I can see on it is made in Russia , maybe a baikal… Never had any issue with it, was shooting some slugs and buckshot today then my friend try it , it did kaboom 2 slugs at the same time wow ! When he was crying about is shoulder and is finger I hask him how he do that it so cool ? Told me my gun was #### ut … ok then I try the same slugs , standard Winchester slug , clic boom , clic boom . I told him try it again you do something rong for sure , then another kaboom lol ! 4 time Like this , is left handed , do I miss something here ?? I’m king of jalous lol !!

Single triggers in side by sides can be very frustrating, all designs and all manufacturing quality is not equal. Of course the gun is supposed to fire one barrel with one trigger pull, then the second barrel with the second trigger pull. A mechanical fault caused by poor trigger mechanism design, poor quality materials or careless factory assembly could be at fault. Another frequent culprit is old gummy lubrication on the trigger mechanism, quite probable as this gun is probably 40-50 years old and has likely never been thoroughly stripped, cleaned and lubed. The third possibility is the method in which the shooter pulls the trigger. A gentle or delicate trigger pull like one uses for a precision rifle will sometimes cause a ‘double discharge’ because of involuntary trigger finger flex. The better designs are made to eliminate this problem for most people most of the time but none are foolproof. Because he was shooting this gun left handed and may have been a bit timid this may be the case here. A firm positive trigger stroke may eliminate this problem for him, otherwise it’s bruises and wasted ammo.

Ashcroft pretty much covered it but the first thing I'd do is a complete teardown and cleaning. If your not capable of doing this yourself then take it to a gunsmith who can... not one who will spray it full of Wd-40 but one who will completely dismantle the gun, clean it, lube it and put it back together.

This was the response that I was just about to make and seems the most likely since the problem follows the shooter not the gun.

Pritty simpull.
Didjah try and shewter left'anditted like yer amis?

Caught that. Some people will give that to a girl friend to try, then laugh about the reaction. Maybe the same ones that think the point of double triggers are for touching off a double discharge. More recoil = more macho?

One of my "pet peeves" is people that give newbies (usually women or kids) a gun WAY too big for them then laugh their azzes off when the recoil kicks the spit out of them. It is only the irresponsible pricks that should not be allowed to own/shoot guns themselves that do it on purpose and I do believe them to be a minority of gun owners but they ARE out there.

Thing is he isn't trying to troubleshoot the issue. He's wanting to duplicate the issue! He said he thinks it is cool that it doubled on his buddy 4 times and is jealous it didn't do it for him...f:P:2:

Well…if one wants a doubling double gun……doubling doubles don't get much better then Baikal’s. They have a reputation for being built like tanks. Speaking of tanks, I hear Baikal double guns are being loaded with FRAG-12 grenade rounds and being used as anti tank firearms in Ukraine. OP’s wet dream right there….

That gun is faulty and unsafe IMO. User initiated or not, it should not double that easily.

Agreed, I would not use this untrustworthy gun until it was repaired and would recommend the same to others. It may be that this problem only occurred with the ‘friend’ but that is one out of only two people, a 50% failure rate. It can and will happen to others at some time, maybe an unsuspecting user, and it could cause a serious accident. Problems like this don’t fix themselves, they usually get worse with time. This gun will move on to other owners and the current owner bears some responsibility if he knowingly passes along an unsafe gun. 2 or 3 owners later this gun may be trusted again while having an unreliable trigger.

More than Wd-40 is required, but a complete tear down, completely dismantling the gun is not required for cleaning.

I'm far more used to single selective triggers failing and shooting NO barrels, or only one. No matter how nice or handy the gun otherwise may be, I'll never like them because, as a wise man once said, they represent the triumph of technology over common sense.

IMO simple = reliable. This is a BIG reason why I specifically went with double triggers on my new SXS. That and my SXS flintlocks are double trigger (obviously) and I prefer to keep things like that consistent. Interestingly, my first outing with my new SXS was a couple rounds of skeet where the other shooters wasted no time in dissing my double triggers and straight stock (I guess I neglected to tell them that I did not buy it to please them). Then, first station after ONE shot, one of the "single trigger" shooters fancy Winchester 23 refused to fire from either barrel. After several failed attempts he swapped it out for an O/U that he had with him. My cheap Turkish double trigger just went bang bang bang all day long. Karma can be a b1tch.

I get sooooo pissed of at this sort of behavior. Just a$$holish!
