Hi guys,

Not sure if this forum or the pistol subforum is best suited for this topic. I figured it would be most likely that IPSC/IPDA shooters might have this tool.

I am currently looking to order a SIRT trainer from Next Level Training. I am curious is anyone had any issues ordering this from them or issues at the border. Not sure if the laser might be a controlled item.

I know it is not a firearm, but appearances sometimes are everything some people. I just want to make sure I don't run into any trouble or at least take steps to avoid or neutralize them.

Thanks.

Setcan is the Canadian distributor but I asked them and they will not sell to civilians, They are a LEO/Mil only shop. If you find a source for them, post it. I was interested in them for practice as well.

I have one. I ordered it direct from NLT with no issues. When I initially expressed concern to them about whether or not it would clear Canada Customs they told me not to worry, so I didn't. It's a great training tool. It feels exactly like a G17/22. I'm waiting for their AR lower to get into production. Then I can train at work.

Thanks for the input guys. Thanks for sharing your experience Rotorwing_Savior!

Sine Wave and everyone else who is interested. Check out.

There is a coupon code that is still active. You can save up to $60 if you buy the Pro model and less on the other models.

Thanks for sharing, I think I'll order one in that case!

Hey, I tried to buy Canadian.

I called Setcan as well... same response I got. I also contacted Glockstore for the Reset Trigger Kit w/laser magic bullet... same concept, drops right into your glock... those they can't export.

Thank you for posting the topic, guys.

NLT has a 10% off code you get if you fill out their "How did you hear about us?" form.

I am looking forward to checking one out!

Emailed NLT.. according to one of their reps..
"Canada Customs put these items on the "Restricted" list." I do not know exactly what that means, but I heard something similar with the Blue and Red rubber guns.
No problems exporting them out of the US... but the purchaser would have to clear it through Canada Customs. Rotorwing_Savior... any advice?

I'm not really sure. I've had mine since April last year. Perhaps in that time CBSA has changed their outlook on this. I'll try and dig up who I dealt with. I know a CBSA Officer. He might know something of this.

I just had to have my order cancelled. They are (now) import restricted, apparently. :(

NLT did say they are working to get that changed, though.

Well that sucks. Thanks for the updates I was hoping to order one in another month. I should wait to see how this shakes out. Would we have to go through an importer?

I don't get it. It's not a firearm. I'm not sure if it would meet replica standards because it is not accurate in detail to any firearm. The shape is of a glock but the details are not.

I did some research and found this:
http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5044-eng.html#P003

They state airsoft being replicas because are designed or intended to exactly resemble a firearm with near precision. I'm not sure if a SIRT meets this but when does the government do anything that makes sense.

The weird part is this is about importing firearms. I can somewhat understand airsoft because they actually launch a projectile but the SIRT uses a laser. I'm so confused....

That's exactly what I said to the "tac-dealer" who refused to sell me a red rubber gun. He says "they can be painted black and can be used to commit a crime." Technically.. the SIRT is a lasergun. You may someday walk into a 7-11 and go "star-wars" on the clerk.
