I am currently "maybe" considering one of these. I have lost quite a bit of income this year, and am considering a range hiatus for december-march.
I know it will never replace live, but at least keep me doing drills during a break.
Now that its been like what, 2 years now? Thats its been marketed, i want to get feedback from people using it hard. Was it even worth it, are they fragile?
I am wondering if i should eventually get one, or just run the competition pistol dry (which i do daily, but have never been more than a week without a range trip)
 
Our unit markmanship program has been using them since 2011. They see fairly regular use (at least once a week from Sept to May) and they haven’t shown an issues of major wear; haven’t even had to change the batteries yet. They are solid and as long as you’re not using it as a hammer they will withstand the type of manipulation you’re likely to see with competitive or defensive training. I think the biggest selling point is being able to get in continuous dry fire repetitions. Weight of practice magazines can be changed to give you the precise feel.

Current downsides would be lack of variety in models. If you run a Glock or M&P this won’t be an issue. The slides don’t reciprocate (may or may not be an issue), and the stock sights are pretty basic, I’m not sure if they can be swapped out to match what you run on your live gun. Sometimes the laser can be distracting, in which case a little tape over the muzzle blocks it out completely.
 
I guess the lazer can be both, good to see if you got your hits, but then you are looking over your sights to see the lazer which can develop bad things...
It's something I had not considered, and if I we're to block the lazer (my reason for interest auto reset alone wouldn't make me buy this) I would skip out on this.
Anyone confirm they see the lazer on target while training without looking over sights?
 
I've got one coming, so I'll let you know. From what I've seen online and here (some of the guys at Abbie run them - Slavex was the first one to bring them in) they're the cats. They'll let you do all sorts of drills that you might not want to run with a loaded gun and no experience (the treadmill for example) and you can safely use them as part of a workout to see how you deal with physical stress.
 
not nearly the quality they should be for the price, Slavex's wont hold its "zero" at all and he had to fix 10% of the ones he ordered out of the box because they didnt work.
 
I have now watched many videos on it, unless I was running a G17 in production, no point training in a different platform I have realized.
I might as well try to get real creative with the 1911s, I noticed that with the slide locked back, you can pull the trigger and feel the difference where it would break then no need to reset.
 
Ever consider an airsoft pistol - without the pellets? It has a similar trigger press and the slide reciprocates and you can track the front sight though the recoil cycle.
 
Got a red/green laser sirt. Trigger isn't very realistic, but it's adjustable. If your not doin outdoor training save your $$ and get the red/red. Got mine from Irun.

Had trouble with the red take up laser flickering, honestly I hardly use the take up anyway. The green poi laser is super bright.

I still gotta do something with the sights.

Btw had it apart for a battery change, looks like a proto type design inside(lots of band aid fixes).

If you get the cheaper one you'll be the wiser unless you need that bright green laser
