Sister In Law Gets Her First Bear!

I thought I would share some pictures with my fellow Gunnutz.

I taught my sister in law how to shoot my Ruger M77, Compact in 7.62X39.
I loaded some ammo with 150 grain Sierra Flat based bullets.
She showed some good shooting skills, so I took her hunting bears.

We spotted a nice Boar 425 yards down a pipe line that parallels some railroad tracks.

We slowly stalked to within 150-175 yards. Set up the bipods and waited for the bear to stand up and offer a shot. We waited only 5 minutes, and she shot the bear in the shoulders. He rollerd down the mound and stumbled 30 yards. he was done!

I am very proud of her for some great shooting! Congratulations Joy!

No doubt, you and her family wil enjoy the meat, as well. We have almost finished the grizzly meat from last Fall. It has been delicious.

Nice bruin! I'm hoping to get my first this season too. Grew up hunting pretty much everything else, but Dad never wanted to hunt bears.

My sister in law is so excited about hunting now!

I hope to continue her firearm handling/shooting training.
In time she will be confident in her ability to make shots in various positions.
I will get her shooting offhand with shooting sticks soon.
A gopher field would be ideal! Lots of shooting and practice handling the firearm.
