Size does matter

I just got my Armi San Marco Colt Walker clone. I knew they were big, but, Jesus. Makes my Pietta 1858 and Single Six look like kid's toys. It should make a satisfying BOOM this weekend.

Everytime I pick up a Walker replica I'm amazed at how big and satisfying they feel! i don't think the user of one in the old days would have many worries.

Holy crap batman, no kidding it is big. What kind of powder charge does it take? Must be over 40-50 grn FFF. So it must have been the .357Mag of it's day. Where did you get it and what is one worth? I have been bitten by the BP bug and I love my 1858 Rem and my 1860 Colt but man o man that is big. The cylinder looks about 1/3 longer than the 1858.

It weighs about twice as much too. I bought it off the EE but Uberti makes new ones. I think Shooter's Choice sells them for about 475.00. I'm going to try 40 grns FFFG to start but I'm sure it will take 50 with a .454 round ball. I have read that the Walker was considered the most powerful handgun on earth until the introduction of the 357 magnum. Go big or go home.

If memory serves, the Walker could swallow 60 grains of powder. The next model dropped to 40 grains and Colt went down to 30 after that.
