Had that question posed to me today and had honestly never given it much thought . I normally buy Norma and check it - it’s always good . So it’s never been an issue , am I skipping a step and doing something wrong ?

If you checked it and the necks are concentric with all the same diameter then don't bother. I usually don't buy new brass but the last time I bought any it was Hornady brass in .375 H&H. The necks were horrible. 2 were cracked, most were visibly out of round. I full length sized the 100 I bought and annealed the necks for good measure. It's been good brass so far.

I normally do and probably should have with new peterson brass.

They had a little too much neck tension out of the box

Most new Starline brass I have recently reloaded has been been consistently ok, so I generally have to say no I have not resized.

Most new brass is so small that the die won't size the body anyway, just the neck. You can usually run them through without lube. All of which means that even most of those FL sizing their new brass aren't FL sizing it either. They just think they are.

If you want to chamfer your case mouths they need to be round. If they aren't already you can round them out by running them over the ball.

I usually purchase Nosler, Norma and Lapua, and in that order. Usually the necks are in great shape, therefore, no need to resize. I purchased one box of Hornady brass and they were in great shape as well. Bevel the interior and exterior of the case mouth for smooth bullet seating and chambering.

I normally just run new cases a wee bit down the neck in a FL or neck size die, to make sure the case mouth is round. No need for lube or fine adjustments.

I size as well; it's just that little bit of extra insurance knowing the neck is sized properly. Plus transport of brass to most stores is not the gentleness journey ever.
