Sizing .40 brass problem

Hi all,
I have a Dillon Square Deal B press that I use for reloading pistol ammo. Lately I have been noticing that quite a few of my reloads dont fit my in my chamber checker after going through the press.

The brass i'm starting with does have a bulge on the bottom of some of the cases (unsupported chamber from a Glock I suspect) so I sort the brass with Glock primer stikes out.

I am making a full pull of the press handle both up and down. Is there any way resize this brass that has the bulge?

I have ~100 rounds with the problem and its a pain in the ass. I cant really chamber check the unloaded brass prior to sizing. I can pull the bullets and reuse them and the powder, but that is a lot of time with the puller.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You need a Lee factory crimp die or U-die. Unfortunately that is one of the disadvantage of the SDB because it only use the Dillon SDB proprietory die.

I am afraid, you are stuck to that problem or else sell the SDB and buy a press that uses the standard 7/8 by 14 thread per inch dies.

While I am a big fan of Dillon (I own a few 550), Dillon should discontinue selling SDB..... My 2-cents.

I've never had problems with my standard LEE dies, maybe the dillon ones dont size the whole case??

One guy I know ground down his sizing die so that it goes all the way to the shellplate - removing the 'glock bulge'.
 
I seem to remember that Dillon had a problem with the early Square Deal B 40 dies. They were not resizing all the way down to the bottom of the case.
Dillon came out with some fix for this problem. Probably they redesigned the dies.
Have you phoned Dillon ? They have excellent service & may just have a free solution for you. After all you obviously have Dillon dies & they are not resizing all the brass properly.
 
I size mine by what I call through sizing. I use an extra Lee Factory Crimp die and remove the top. I then push the brass upside down completely through the die. The box the fcd comes in can be altered to fit over the die portion that sticks out of the press and then it will catch the brass. I use a 9mm lead sizing die punch to push the brass through the fcd. I custom sized the inside of my die to the proper diameter and never chamber check anymore. It may work as is, be sure to check neck tension or your loaded rounds.

Grinding some off the bottom of the die sometimes works but it doesn't promote easy feeding into the die. There is a certain company that makes sizing dies just for this, can't remember who but someone here will.

+2 - Exactly as I did. Never owned a Square Deal though, maybe shaving the die a bit would work.

Are you trying to say that you are using this type remedy on Dillon Square Deal B Press?;)
 
You can buy what they can a roller that will re-size your brass a buddy of mine has one that he put all his 40cal brass though
 
give Dillon a call, they might send you a new press or die, or maybe trade it to a new 550. Dillon has the best service...
