Thank you! I’ll try chambering first and measure the case neck on a fired round for good measure.Try chambering a loaded round as is, if they chamber they will eork just fine, if not yes push em through a sizing die.
Yes. Will try .311 first. There is a limit to undersize..bullet band start to deform..but do 10 and try it.I have a lot of lubed and has checked bullets sized .314 for 303 British. Can I run these through a Lee bullet sizer (.309 or .311) for use in my 30/06? Will the gas check stay in place through the sizing process?
Definitely. My flaring tool is a set of needle nose pliers. I’m pretty basic lolYou may have issues seating the bullets and would need a flaring die.
I have no idea what they started as re: size. These were all purchased pre made. They’re Lyman 314299 and Saeco 305.If you had to size the driving bands to 0.314", chances are the bullets' noses are too large & will stick in the bore when you try to chamber them. If you try to eject them, de-bulleting will result.
Take your calipers, or better yet, your mic & measure the nose section in front of the driving bands. If you get a number larger than ~0.3025", you may have problems unless you have an eroded throat.I have no idea what they started as re: size. These were all purchased pre made. Mine for things bigger then .30/.312 calibers is a steel 7.62x54rDefinitely. My flaring tool is a set of needle nose pliers. I’m pretty basic lol
I’ve done this also. Works greatMine for things bigger then .30/.312 calibers is a steel 7.62x54r
The same gas check as is currently on my bullets? So the existing gas checks should be fine?Same gas check is used for 30 caliber and 31 caliber. That bullet is the same one I use. Easily sized to 0.309. I do it all the time without any issues.
Thanks so much for the detailed response. I’ll measure and see what I getThis is what I was referring to [measure the diameter where the red crosshairs are] [drawing courtesy of NOE Moulds, of which I have one, used under Fair Use provisions].

The bullet bases are made the same size for 30 and 31 caliber. Your sizer will crimp the check on and size to proper diameter. In your case your just sizing down smaller. The same gas check as is currently on my bullets? So the existing gas checks should be fine?
Do you still have your Le Wilson 6ppc die? This is what I was referring to [measure the diameter where the red crosshairs are] [drawing courtesy of NOE Moulds, of which I have one, used under Fair Use provisions].
