Hey Guy.

I’m trying to get the runout on my loaded rounds consistently lower. My current setup is a Redding body die and a Lee collet die. I probably get 20% that are .003 to .004 runout. I borrowed a friends Wilson setup and it works great very consistent results. But it seems to slow for the volume that I do.
Just would like to know what everyone is using and the results they get. I really like the idea of a FL bushing or bump die just for one less step.
Thanks a bunch
Joe

custom full length bushing dies from Whidden, they minimally size the case and bump the shoulder back 1.5 thou. You send in 3 pieces of fired brass from your rifle and he matches the dies to your chamber, short of that a bushing only sizing die is the way to go, in that case you'd use a redding die. The less of the case you size, the less runout you can induce into a fired case.

After testing Forster dies vs other types and brands Forster in my opinion wins hands down for the lowest neck runout.

NOTE, The Redding bushing die FAQ tells you if the neck thickness varies .002 or more to use their expander that comes with the die. So the dies expanders are not the end of the world as many people say and think. And in the video below they tell you they got lower neck runout with the Forster die vs a Redding bushing dies.

Below are just some of the .223 dies I tested for neck runout after sizing, and the neck sizing dies produced the most neck runout.

And if you want the lowest neck runout then try neck turning and Forster or Redding bench rest seating dies. These type seating dies hold the case and bullet in perfect alignment and can actually decrease the amount of case neck runout slightly. These two type seating dies came in first place in a test done at the Riflemans Journal vs any other type seating die, RCBS, Hornady, Vickerman and Wilson

Thanks for the info guys.
I am currently neck turning to at or below .0005” consistency. I’m also using a Forster BR die for seating.
The BR die seems to work as well as the Wilson die in the arbor press for seating.
Bigedp51 how much runout where you seeming with the different dies.
