I have made lots of brass for myself by sizing down, but have never sized "up" before. What would be a good method for sizing 300 WSM to 325 WSM, or would you advise against such folly? I am having a hard time sourcing 325 WSM brass, but can get oodles of 300 WSM brass.

Should I try the COW method, I have only used that for correcting shoulders before.

I have both hornady and redding dies for 325 wsm and both have a tapered expander for resizing 300wsm brass into 325wsm. I don't even put extra lube on the case neck, i just give them the normal amount I would have and run them into the die. No issues at all. If your unsure use a little extra case lube inside the neck and your good to go.

I agree 100% with you on that one.Tapered expander plugs are the greatest thing since sliced bread and make short work of necking up from one caliber to another.

First off, I posted this in the wrong section, my apologies! If any mod reads this feel free to move the topic for me!

Second, my dies are Redding, just checking that works well. Thanks guys!

I have 325 WSM FL, Neck, and seating dies from Redding, about 80 1xf brass and 50 NEW Nosler brass. Thanks for the heads info, I also have an annealing station otw to increase case life for all my oddball rifles.

The poor mans annealer works pretty well with standard and LA cals. I have never tried it on "short" cases. WSSM or .223 style.

I stole the idea from hand loader magazine, bucket of water, propane torch, hold the case at the web or half way up the case if a LA case is being treated (hold it with your fingers), heat neck while rolling the case until the case becomes uncomfortable to hold, drop it in the bucket of water.

It is virtually impossible to over anneal the cases without giving yourself a serious burn.

Cheers!

My uncle told me about this way as well, I just don't have enough experience with annealing so was going to lean towards something more idiot proof, lol. However I'll give this a shot with some more common and cheaper brass.
