Hey guys/gals, I've been trying to find information pertaining to magazine limits in Saskatchewan. I've looked through a printed copy of the 2014 synopsis, and then searched a PDF of it. I've also tried looking on the government website and, of course, searching CGN but I can not find any answers. I had taken a few years away from hunting, last year was the first year in 12 that I had gone out and there have been a lot of changes since then so I'm just looking for clarification.

The last time 12 years ago it was my understanding that the magazine limitation was that you were permitted 5 rounds maximum for hunting, either 5 in the mag (without being able to secure the magazine with a round in the chamber already) or 1 in the chamber with 4 in the magazine. However I'm thinking that this year I might want to take my VZ.58 out after whitetail and all I have right now are the 5/30 mag's that came with the rifle, however I would be able to chamber a round and then place the magazine in the mag well, giving me 6 rounds. It's more the fact that the magazine is a 30 round magazine from the factory, made legal by a pin. Would I have to "re-pin" the magazines to 4 rounds in order to hunt with them legally? Or has there been a change since the last time I could find this regulation?

...Or maybe I just can't search worth a damn.

I am sure Dogleg is correct. Sask hunting regulations do not impose magazine limits. The limits for shotgun capacity when hunting migratory birds are set by federal regulations to comply with international agreement (U.S. & Canada joint management of hunting of migratory birds) and SERM Conservation Officers will enforce this. When big game hunting with rifles comply with the federal firearms regulations and it's not a hunting issue.
