SK Launches New Long Range Match .22 LR Ammunition

interesting they claim they've been manufacturing .22LR for 190 years, since it's only been out for 135 years...invented in1884. other .22 options were started before that, so perhaps they mis-worded the statement?

Depends what you mean by extended distance. I have some guys that have tried Sk Biathlon Sport up to 400 yards give or take. Beyond that I think it the target size might be the limiting factor.
That being said it performed better than we expected given that it is a .22 round at the end of the day.
 
I'll to get my hands on some when it will be in stock! Would be interesting to test. We were shooting out to 550 yards in Heffley creek after the last match up there and had lots of successful hits on a reasonably small target (i think it was 24 inches)!!

Anyone really look at the chart? It says weapon not firearm. Just saying.
 
It is very common translation from German.
Waffe is very commonly to identify firearms in German. Although they do have a word for firearms "Feuerwaffe" which is not commonly used in general context of sport shooting firearms.
 
Soooooo yadda yadda yadda marketing yadda yadda.
Is it increased propellant load? Change in projectile G shape dimensions? Heavier projectile pushed by faster burning powder?
What makes it so different than any other
.22LR out there to make it achieve such "long range" capabilities?
Looks like a 40gr bullet with a pretty low muzzle velocity for a 20" barrel.
It must be some magical bullet shape then?

All good questions!
Yes, it does use different propellant compared to the other target ammo from SK line.
Taking it much faster destabilizes the round, which would not make it suitable for target shooting, so although it does seem low, it is pushing the velocity as close as possible to the sonic speed.
At the end we can debate the stats to the end of time, however they do not prove that the ammo is more accurate.
Shooting it does. Preliminary tests are looking really good, but I think that is better affirmed by other shooters, rather than us the dealer.

Outdated viewpoint.

Guys with centerfire rigs are dropping more money on their .22 precision long range rigs than their "real" gun.

Why?

Simulate shooting long range, without needing the space. Almost perfectly and much, much lower ammo cost. I don't know about you but I can't afford to shoot .308+ at the same amount as I would .22LR.

Look at PRS and NRL 22 matches.
 
I have not had a chnace to field test the ammo yet but I did notice that it is very "slick" feeling without leaving any residue on your hands. It seems like some kind of a dry lubricant. That in itself is a great upgrade.

Ahh yes. There are many posts about lubricant that is used on SK ammo. Some people really dislike it and go out of their way to get rid of it. Many posts on that on other forums.
