SK Launches New Long Range Match .22 LR Ammunition

hWdvG56.jpg

SK Ammunition, manufacturers of high-quality .22 LR cartridges for nearly 190 consecutive years, announce our latest offering: “SK Long Range Match.” New for 2019, Long Range Match was developed for demanding .22 LR enthusiasts routinely acquiring targets out to 100 yards and beyond. It is purpose-built for today’s long range rimfire shooting disciplines ever-increasing in popularity, such as PRC, tactical rimfire, long range silhouette and more.

SK Ammunition Sales & Marketing Manager Joerg Melcher states, “Historically, high-quality match ammunition has been a barrier to entry for competitive target shooting. SK Long Range Match allows shooters to gain access to new competition rimfire rifle and pistol disciplines without overwhelming their pocketbooks.”

SK Long Range delivers accurate, high-quality rounds that reliably feed through your competitive target rifle. Centerfire competition shooters will also find SK Long Range Match the ideal training companion to prepare with .22 platforms similar to their big bore configuration. Whether you’re actively competing in today’s popular long range rimfire sports or connecting with LR targets from the firing line at your local club, instill the confidence you deserve with new SK Long Range Match, available in 2019.

Goes without saying, if its accurate at long range, should be deadly at 50m.. I look forward to trying it when it's out. Anyone have an idea what the price point will be?

As always for long range .22LR shooting, the key to accuracy as far as the ammo goes is all in the extreme spread of the velocity. A higher initial MV such as that reported above will help with a lesser drop at distance. If the MV is nominally at 1106 fps (337 m/s) it shares that characteristic with SK Biathlon Sport ammo.

Potential gopher-slaying ammo, I'll grab some to try for sure...run 'em through the hollow-pointer, and see how the CZ/Anschutz likes them. My Anschutz shines with SK Rifle Match now, would be awesome to find a faster ammo in that grade that shoots equally well.

SK/Lapua must be noticing a loss of market share. Eureka! a new breed of fodder for the RF crowd to play with. Considering the factory specs I won't expect it to be a world beater. It will depend on whether your rifle favors it. The price will likely be in between Standard Plus and Rifle Match.
Realistically, with an advertised velocity of 1100 fps how can it's "Long Range" performance be much different than what is available ?

I agree. There's nothing inherently more accurate about a .22LR round that has a slightly faster muzzle velocity. It may well be that SK/Lapua (both part of Nammo Schönebeck GmbH in Germany) seeks to establish a market share in the growing beyond 100 yards .22LR shooting field. RWS R100 and RWS Rifle Match S, both with slightly higher MV's than traditional target ammo, have been available for some time but are specifically described by the manufacturer as 50 and 100m ammo -- perhaps a now limiting descriptor. Be on the lookout for other ammo makers to follow suite with ammo ostensibly for 100 yards and beyond.

Both SK and Lapua are well known for replacing their worn out machines with new ones to produce the same lines of ammo, type of ammo is directly related to the machine making it, so when a new machine is making ammo more concentric then the machine it is replacing they discontinue the one and introduce a new label at a higher price point, case in point is lapua center x, a new machine set up to make the midas line of ammo, but the quality was to good to not profit off of.....
If you give it a cool name it will sell faster, paint it black and call it tactical and it will fly off the shelves, everyone in the rimfire world knows for fact that velocity means nothing, they take the average of 100 rounds fired through 4 different rifles, their test rifles versus your rifle has left more people in tears then those jumping for joy, it's akin to a automobile maker calculating fuel mileage while only driving downhill.......

What are you using for making your hollow points?

Hey KDX~a WALTZ die set, mounts to your reloading vise. Slow process if you're attempting to do gopher qtys...but I've learned it's well worth it. :) Hit Google, and search for "Neal Waltz Die for 22LR"

yodave is off-base with his comments. Lapua used new technology and equipment for the present factory, which is in Germany as opposed to old factory in Finland. The latest products are not the same.

Like any new product, the comment about trying it in your rifle are spot on.

Best regards,

Peter
