Soorry if this is a repost guys, I couldn't find anything with the search function.

I'm hunting with 3 other people and 2 of us have tagged out. We have been trying to figure out if the 2 who no longer have tags can shoot an animal for the other 2 and still be legal.
 
No. In order to avoid any problems from a CO if the three of you go out bring only one rifle for the friend who hasn't tagged out. In the past I have been with friends who needed to tag out and I had already filled my tag. We were checked by CO's and the first thing they did was to look at how many guns were with us. When they saw I had no rifle they said that was good and sent us on our way.

The old line was to say you were shooting coyotes but I asked a CO friend of mine about that and he said that if it was deer or any other big game season you had better have a tag because that line would not work.

You can still have fun pushing bush for your friend.
 
Give the local CO a call and ask him. Last time I checked , yes Sask regs., you were allowed to accompany but not allowed to assist ie push bush for another Hunter unless you have a valid tag. I know this is a fine line but the local CO is the man who will decide if you are legal or not so investing the time for the phone call is a good bet.
 
hunting is defined in the regs

Hunting includes taking, wounding, killing, chasing, pursuing, worrying,capturing, following after or on the trail of, searching for, shooting at,trapping, setting snares for, stalking or lying in wait for any wildlife,whether or not the wildlife is subsequently captured, wounded or killed

pushing bush is hunting

when your tag is cut you are done unless you wanna help drag it out...or drive the truck iirc

Without a doubt NO. You are done and as BrotheRockeye has stated you have been regulated to dragger or driver. If you do accompany your friend you cannot participate in the hunt. Sitting with him in a blind is fine (unarmed of course).

I lived and hunted in Ontario for several years and I am personally in favour of party hunting how it is regulated there, it's just not the case here.

Be the camera man. That's a blast

I've discussed this with a Conservation Officer who said it is fine. Not only is it a common practice but you are not actively contributing to the hunt as you would by "pushing" bush etc. Of course I know him personally and he's a decent fellow, I suppose another may feel different. This is precisely how myself and many others mentor our children to develop an interest in hunting and the outdoors.
 
Bring a camera on your "nature walk" Your not hunting ,just taking pictures of wildlife.Could you not be carrying a gun and hunting coyotes?Harold

That's why I said "technically" mossy. If the CO wanted, a charge could be laid. My kids sit ground blinds with me from the time they are old enough to knowingly stay quiet. I have them practice being quiet "if they wanna hunt with Daddy" ; )

That's covered in the regs and isn't allowed either Harold.



Pretty sure the fish cops have heard every excuse over the years and the regs reflect their attempt to close the loop holes.
