Skeet and the Ontario CFO

Can I assume that this way the puller will also become the Range Control Officer ? Next the CFO will want someone to watch the RCO.
Ad infinitum & Ad Nauseum.

Why is it exactly, that all these new rules and crap seem to stem from the Barrie Gun Club? Not stirring up crap, but after the holster thing (among a bunch of other "ON CFO says this") posts coming from members at the BGC, it's getting a little weird. When I read your post I thought to myself "Hmmm. sounds like Barrie". Then I looked at your location and lo and behold...

Is there something bigger at work there? I never see any other ON clubs posting about stuff like this.

Yet again, another incremental cost/barrier added to the sport for no real reason other than to make things just a liiiiiiiittle bit more difficult.

It is not a requirement as I understand it and a completely pointless rule if it were. I did hear however some rumblings that the CFO was thinking about requiring someone on each sporting clays squad to act as an Range Safety Officer but not that they couldn't shoot as part of the squad. The "mantle" of RSO would shift to another shooter while he shot. Given that the sporting clays trapper is often some distance removed from the squad making the trapper and RSO would be stupid.

If true... Another case os regulations just for the sake of it.
What about the old idea that "EVERYONE" is a range safety officer when on a live range?

Of course none of this CFO meddling applies if you have the space and simply venture out into the back 40 and start shooting clays... Providing of course there's no law agaist discharging guns in your 'hood.
But.... call it a "club" with paying members and in swoops the CFO to make sure everything is up to their standards...
