Anyone ever shot skeet with a 14 inch barrel on their shotty?

I took my HP9 to the range to play with it for the first time yesterday, and the boys were shooting skeet. I tried a few clays, but only got about one out of 5. Now, I've never shot skeet in my life, but I'm figuring the 14 inch barrel, and only the bead sight on the thing didn't help my performance much. Whadya think?? LOL :D

I didn't buy this gun with skeet in mind, but now that I've tried it, I thought I might actually give it a whirl again.

I've done trap with mine, and it is allot of fun. :D

Yah have to be quick of the mark as soon as you see the clay, before it gets too much distance.

I'm sure it had less to do with the gun, and more to do with you being new to the sport. Keep going, ask questions and for help, and you'll get the hang of it.

I've shot my 14" 870 for skeet a few times. Mine has a modified choke and rifle sights and it will reach out and hit skeet distance targets. I certainly can't do as well with it as my regular o/u but it's good practice and fun.

The first time I brought mine out I was asked if it was legal.

Then I got some grumbling about the noise and flash.

But the guys at the club are used to my eccentricities and once I explained the laws about the gun a couple of them wanted to give it a try.

The only caution about a really short gun at skeet is that it requires more attention when it comes to muzzle control. Longer barrels are easier to see and easier to keep in the proper direction.

What you are really trying to say is... YOU SUCK! LOL

I'll be going back on the regular skeet night during the summer me thinks.. LOL

It wasn't much fun for me...I was shooting beside you.

You sure aren't kidding when you say it was loud.

At haggisfest last year, Woodchopper entered the "Tactical shotgun Trap event", and didn't do too bad... until his front bead went flying off into parts unknown. Shooters beside him didn't like it too much though.

Scott was also hitting the odd clay with his little .410 hand cannon!
