Skills and drills - Abbotsford Fish and Game Club

This week the class is all about the draw and everything related to it. Great class to come to as rob really knows how to teach a draw, cut a full half second off mine just by showing me the proper movements

7pm friday, if you need a holster email rob or me or post here and will see what we can do.

Next time you're out we have to get together.

This week we will be shooting on Saturday night again. Multiple targets all night, continuing from where we left off. Going to work on changing gears and cadence etc.

Pistol
MagS
Ammo
Holster
Mag pouches
Hearing protection
Eye protection
Ball hat
$20

Extra:
Brown tape (for target, but there is usually some around)
Stappler and stapples (as above)

When I go I am the one who looks like a tactical doofus with a bunch of stuff that is not really necessary for S&D, I just tend to wear the same set up whenever I am training.

The important part is to show up, we'll get you going from there.

As Joe's post lists, also plan on bringing 200-300 rounds.
shooting at 7pm this friday night

Another plug for Rob, which I shouldn't because he just might raise his prices again:

I'm not sure people understand the value of Skills and Drills. I pay good money for (tactical) shooting courses, everyone of them was well worth the price I paid (think hundreds of dollar a pop).

But:

Rob charges $20 for ~ 3hours of training/shooting. At this rate I pay Rob about 1/5 of the going training rate, for top notch pistol marksmanship training. The value in increasing and maintaining my skills are unequalled to anything else out there. (ATS would be about equal, if we ran it more regularly.)

Rob was one of a handfull of people who started me (c. 2006) from a guy who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside, to a decent shooter.

Just show up, its fun, inexpensive training and you just might meet some interesting people.

i really wish I had some video of me shooting a year and a half ago, it was pretty terrible and thanks to rob (and tim) showing me the proper way to shoot as well as giving me a class that forces me to go to the range when i otherwise dont feel like practising I shoot much much better. and that is only in a year and a half

I wish I had taken pictures of all the shooters targets over the years, mine included, to show how much improvement happens. when I started I could barely keep my shots on a B27 at 10yds, always low left or high right. It wasn't until about 1999 that I learned how to shoot from Piperdown and another guy. From there we formed the ATS club, and then S&D soon after. Now with the IPSC club and Steel Challenge as well, the number of pistol shooters has increased dramatically.
I'm getting low on targets so when I order my next batch I'll be getting some different looking ones to help liven things up a bit. Also need to get the air compressor going and get that moving target system running regularly.

we meet this Friday at 7pm by the way. A nice warmup for the BJ Norris class this weekend.

well that was a hoot. Anyone who wasn't there missed out on me teaching BJ Norris. seriously.

Well ok, he participated in class, and certainly proved it's the shooter not the gun that is important. Running one of my spare Shadows faster than I can run it. Amazing to see, and humbling to hear him endorse what I teach.

I just got a message from my co-worker mentioning about this weekly event happening in Abbotsford. I'll definitely check this out once I'm done school and get my gun. Also reading about the stuff it's being taught, it includes tactical training too. Which I truely like and interested. Itching to get on the range

Yeah his draw is ####ing amazing, amazing.
As for what gets taught at class, I wouldn't say tactics so much. We do cover some stuff like that some of the time, but the night is all about shooting and what's required to do that.

This week we are starting at 7:30pm and we are going to incorporate some of what we learned this past weekend with BJ Norris. So be prepared to try and go quick.
For the newer shooters, we'll still be focusing on building the fundamentals so don't get freaked out.
