Hey just curious if anyone has used this brand. I am getting a lever action rifle and am thinking of getting one of these Skinner peeps. I read that there are different heights you can buy because one guy was confused he couldn't adjust it anymore and he was hitting like 10'' high is there something i need to know about that ? Do you guys like them ????

All info is welcome thanks !

I have one on my Marlin 1895 and it's a great sight.....I had to change my front sight to make it work (firesite) because the Skinner sits higher even in its lowest position. The skinner website goes into this in great detail and they do recommend trying the sight first before making any changes because some people have been lucky and were able to use the factory front sight......my $0.02

I have tried a few different Skinner sights, the latest one is the winged model on a Rossi Rio Grande 45/70 they have all worked well, I also had a XS ghost ring set up on a Marlin 1895gbl I sold it to a friend, I would give the edge to the XS on the 1895 but they are more money. I think if you decide what lever you are buying and then do a search or repost you will get lots of input.

I don't have the Skinner, but do have the Williams FP with Firesight post. Regardless, a peepsight is the best thing you can add to your lever action. Keeps it looking classic and improves accuracy 10 fold.

I have one of the original style Skinners on my Marlin 1895 with a 22" barrel. I shoot 420 gr. cast and I was able to get away with the factory front. If I wanted to shoot 350s and pick up the speed I would need a taller front sight. Very happy with the Skinner.

I have one on my 39A and like it a lot. I didn't need to adjust the front site at all and still have room to move up or down on the skinner site. One word of advise if you go ahead with the skinner, periodically check to make sure the peep is tight. Mine fell out and I didn't notice it until some time later. How my friend found it in his boat after I asked him to keep an eye out for it I will never figure out, they are small. That I believe to be my fault and not the site ,but I would use a bit of lock-tite on that screw should you get one.
