Skinner sights - Anyone have one?

Peeps of all kinds work well including the skinner's. I don't mind a bead sight with a peep as I treat it like a red dot... sure it covers some of the target but I try and set it up so the part that is covered is where it hits..... place the dot and take the shot.

It's more of a red dot approach then a target shooter who set's the sights to be just below the point of impact at a set distance. I like small brass beads and or small red light tubes.

I just put the Skinner Express sight on my brass Big Boy in 44mag last week. I bought the brass mount, which added a premium, and I think to my door it cost about $260CDN all in. I also mounted my Leupold vx-3i 1.5-5 in Talley QD rings, because I want the option to quickly unmount the scope and use the peep in tight cover. Haven't fired the new set up yet, but expect to in the next couple of weeks. The Express is well made and suits the rifle, and I like the virtually instantaneous site picture through the peep. The express is not as svelte as the standard one, but it's a good compromise that I'm willing to accept for the versatility. I'm hoping I won't have to mount a taller front sight.

I just today ordered a Skinner Express rear and a Bear Buster front for my 1895 Guide Gun. I'll keep you posted on the install, and how it performs. Cost was $193 Cdn, shipped.

I have a couple and like them. I had a marble arms bullseye rear sight on a henry 357 and loved it. Great peep sight for only $25. I’d recommend trying one then going skinner if it doesnt work. Unless you absolutely have to have a skinner of course. They are nice

Good sights

Some designs are difficult to adjust but they are low profile and hold zero well. They also look good.

I’m happy to see them expanding their available products. I’d like to give the boar buster or bead front a try on a bolt action or slug gun.

I've used Skinner peeps on a few rifles. Ruger No.1, Marlin 30As 30-30, Marlin 1895 45-70, and a couple 22's. They are good, rugged sights.
When I can, I always use a front post rather than a bead and I agree 100% with what Boomer wrote on the subject. My favorite is the XS front post.

I have had a few Skinners as well as the XS with wings, I prefer the XS for adjustment and the wings stop the sight from snagging, the Skinners look better though.
