Ya old news. People have done that for years. It's pretty red neck. I've never done it but my buddy has with a quad.

It's an intresting way of doing things lol.
 
Done it with a moose and a bobcat but the hide kept ripping where we cut and hooked it, the golf ball would solve that.
 
Yeah, that method is pretty useless if the carcass has cooled off. We did that for years, using a quad. It also requires a bit of extra attention if you are using a hi-velocity round that tears a big entrance or exit hole...it usually needs a bit of attention with a knife around the hole to keep it from tearing.
 
We used to do this with horses on elk, then debone on the spot. Come home with meat, rack and cape. It works real slick and makes quick work of the animal.
 
We've done it with both deer and moose. I think it would likely work on bear as well. The moose we did had been hanging a couple of days, and was quite a pull, but we did succeed. A warm carcass is best.
I do most of mine the old fashioned way, as I usually hang outdoors and hide on.
 
All the ones I've done were gutted animals, so the butt hole was cut around yes, and you need to make all the cuts around the neck, down the throat, down the legs, and around the legs where ever you decide to stop skinning.
The tail will peel off with ease.
