If it's RIMFIRE oal is what matters. I had a 9" barrelled on my 10-22 and it was non restricted...

I am very familiar with Canadian firearms laws and regs. I have owned many super short guns and have cut down guns to legal lengths as well.

Yeah, for whatever reason its easier for a rimfire to be classified as NR and they allow a shorter barrel... that being said they are pretty good at making up reasons for something to be restricted.
