SKS’s breeding like bunnies at my house

Is there any sort of contraceptive one can give their SKS’s? Do you spay or neuter an SKS?
You see my problem is I bought one of these little puppies and it seemed lonely so I bought it a stable mate. Next thing I know I have 4 of the accursed things. This is all fine and good but I’m and Enfield collector and what am I going to do with 4 SKS’s? I wish my Enfield collection was as cheep to bread as these things.
From top 55/56 non-refurb bright bolt, 55/56 matching refurb bright bolt, 1951 Matching black bolt refurb with replacement laminate stock on it’s first rifle and a 1950 black bolt refurb with many early features including a long tab top cover release.

In all seriousness though the top two are more than enough so I think I’m going to sell the bottom two.

thanks for the pics of the variation of top covers , i knew about the early version having no holes in them but i didnt know they had semi rounded locking lug , i'll to do more research into it , find out when they switched.

btw, i think i know someone back east that would love to have that long tab SKS .

---- Funny how that works isn,t it , and if you come across a Good Contraceptive, Please " Share" the info, I started off with two as well , now about seven !!! ------ I think maybe Curtton, may be to blame, for some of this !!! --- Just Kidding , " Nice Collection " We should all be Happy that we can even get them at all. A real nice Mil- Surp with a Whole Lot of History, both past and present !!! --- but I just have to get back to Enfields and Mausers !!! ??? :) --- until then ----------

i wish i bought up all the LE i saw at the pawn shop windows when i was a little boy , they had racks of them from $25-29 . now look at them .

i was too poor and too young to know any better back then but not this time with the russian SKS . any IZH for sale , non-refurb ? :D

I think I am going to have to buy another sks now...
I just got my credit card bill!
:(
Damm u curtton it's all your fault!
:p
P.S. What company sells these IZH rifles?

You know, when I see the variants in a row, and since I own a black bolt from SIR (which I paid $230 shippped), I like the black bolt. It may not be as valuable, but it looks better, IMHO.

PS

Nice collection!

------- I only have one black bolt that I got from Ed at Moving Target AB., the rest all bright --- and have been trying to decide whether or not to strip the paint off the bolt, as it will be a shooter, and I am thinking along the same lines, berger, --- the More I look at it ----- right now I think I,ll leave it black !!

I got into the Enfield collecting game when you could have any regular full wood No4 you wanted for $100.00. Cut downs were between $50.00 and $75.00. A No1MkIII would set you back $125.00 or $150.00 if it was CDN marked. That was a time when people still looked at you funny if you said you collected them. Lucky for me I could afford to buy one every 3 to 4 months and got myself a reasonably nice collection.
As for non-refurb IZH the only one I have is the one at the top of the photo and it has a permanent place in the gun room.

To everyone else thanks for the great feedback!

did you by any chance do anything with those guns?

those stocks all look like they were stripped of the usual crummy finish the Russians dipped or sprayed on them when rebuilding them. I also noticed quite a few laminated stock photos that guys posted where the laminated stocks look beautifull with a really nice coat of finish to enhance the laminated wood. The ones we get here all have a cheap coat of lacqure on them. I do not touch my Military guns I leave them as I get them I just clean them up as you would normally I do not sand or refinish them. (just a collector thing with me ) The Russian laminated sure does look great when finished for the grain to show . The stocks above are all hardwood examples and even those look awesome in the photos. The stuff we got in the States the finish usually is flaking off

Shoot them all first and then make sure the ones you're selling aren't shooters. Then sell the duds on the EE which is why I avoid buying guns from there. Distributor won't do this so you have a better chance of getting what you pay for. And its cheaper to boot.

WHAT?

I have bought most my guns off the EE "no duds"

I'm not saying they are all duds Dsiwy. Just why not spend some time shooting the rifles to see what you have before selling. Does that make any sense?

The last thing I wanted to do is offend your rifles. :)

Some of the guns had very rough, peeling, flaking shellac that landed here.

The three I picked up from TradeEx were really nice laminate versions but one came with a heavy trigger. Ah well, just one of 15 000 000 or more.
