SKS 2017 price check

Like there isn't millions of enfields or mausers etc out there lol
Check some of the prices on those premium collectors , hell check the prices on the beaters of those rifles.

Yes there sure are. I paid 150 for my Nr 1 Mk III Lithgow 1917 and 249 for my 1941 matching numbers Mauser. As long as people continue to pay outlandish prices for milsurps people will continue asking outlandish prices.

Yes I paid for my K98 Russian capture 299$+tax to SIR but was in 2007 not in 2017.

I used to pay $1 for 4l of milk and 25 cents for a bag of chips , unfortunately those days are long gone, just like cheap guns.
It does suck , I also don't fully disagree with you about prices on some guns being artificially driven up but I guess the market dictates price sadly and if people pay it , that's the price/value.

Just picked up a blued all matching 1952 Tula for 195 dollars at CT.Used the 50 dollar promo card to get it.They showed me three and the other two were garbage. One had a bad bore and the other looked like the stock was made by an angry 10 year old.I wanted to go back to find a 1949 but they wouldn't let me.

MY CT has not had a blued , all matching Russian SKS in over a year .................. they have the Russian stamped ones ..... can you say BBQ ..

I seemed to have won the Canatire lottery. My 52 I bought today is non-refurb, matching, blued and unissued. The bright shiny Bayonet was the giveaway.I got a BBQ painted Frankenpinned model as well, from Cabelas very first SKS shipment.I didn't know we could still get nice SKS's off the shelf after buying that horrible mutilated Cabalas rifle .

Does anyone know of any Chinese (not Norinco) SKS milsurps coming in with barrels threaded into the receiver??? I'm not looking for one of the recent refurb mixmasters which IMHO are very nice but an unissued rifle. The earlier the better.

If you find a place that are selling Chinese SKS milsurps with barrels threaded into the receiver unissued rifle , all numbers matching I would love to know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I have seen is pretty much the bottom of the barrel , dark rough stocks , mismatched parts , scrubbed parts with no numbers ( bolts ) ect

MStar are sold out but the add states these would be unissued ones , price is unknown at present ............

My 1950 Tula is a refurb, and it's what you all would call BBQ paint. However, I'm not sure I understand what all the hate is about. The finish on mine is very nice. It looks the same as the finish on my friend's brand new 870 Express. Underneath the gas tube, the logo is nicely printed along with "made in Russia". I dunno, it just looks decent to me. Having said that, my non-refurb 1951 is blued, and looks somewhat nicer, but it doesn't make me hate the other one.

You don't mean stamped receivers do you? I don't recall there ever being Russian ones with stamped receivers. To my knowledge, only China ever produced stamped receivers. I could be wrong...

Sorry I was complete in my remarks , yes it has "made in Russia" atop the barrel under the hand guard / gas tube .

These came through Germany from Russia ,, well that's what I have heard anyway .

My ugly Cabelas Frankenpinned Mutant Looked normal to me until I held a nice one.I always wondered why people would pay up to twice as much for a super grade, until I held a unisssued one for myself. The difference is a large one, and the fit and finish are as different as night and day.It shoots well and I am going to keep it as a shooter and my cheap super grade as my wall hanger.I paid less for the good one as well ,so it pays to look around for the decent ones.

Don't get me wrong here, I've seen some pretty awful looking beat to #### guns that I certainly wouldn't buy, but I'm saying that BBQ paint itself wouldn't make me turn my nose up at a gun that was otherwise in nice shape.

The BBQ comes off with methyl hydrate and a wire brush, leaving a grey anodized finish.
Give that a good scrubbing with steel wool and blue it, then steel wool and blue again.
Doesn't look too half bad afterwards...

My thoughts are, it was Russia's first attempts at Parkerizing and most are very nice! These days most, if not all ar and military rifles along with many others are Parkerized similarly! It is less reflective, corrosion resistant and relatively inexpensive! If buying a shooter, it is great and being a refurb, it likely has a new barrel and other worn parts replaced! Obviously, if you want a collector sks you would buy a blued copy!
