SKS 223 conversion possible

If the objective was a .22 centerfire SKS, and not a .223 Rem specifically, it would be fairly straightforward to do one in .220 Russian as it uses the same case head as 7.62x39. A .224" barrel blank and a chamber reamer would get one most of the way there. The .220 Russian is strictly a hand loading proposition, of course.

Polishing a turd

Not sure what that comment has to do with this original thread.

What I was curious on was looking into options on a legal hunting semi in SW Ontario that could be built on a easy to come by rifle at present.

Form searching the net it appears the 6.5 Grendel may be a good match but I do not have the skills or knowledge of building rifles to make that call.

I have no interest in mags being AR or AK ect.

A removalble mag would be nice but I think at present I will continue on my current venture on tring to convert a sks with min changes and go from there.

I appreciate the responses and please help out if interested.

If one is contemplating re-barreling to .220 Russian, why not take it one step further, how about 6ppc! Uses the same case dimensions of the .220 but at 6mm, good for deer!:D;)

the 6.5 grendel would be a better round for hunting than the 220 rssian and you can probable just buy a replacement barrel for it. It sould be a simple drop in switch
I needed a little Google session to learn about the 6.5 Grendel, very slick little round. This would be a great little project if someone would take it on.
