i recently bought the metal 5/30rd metal mag from HI Caliber. i took out the boxmag and re-attached the trigger mechanism. now i try to insert the mag and it wont go in right. however if i try to just put it in without locking in the front part (that looks like an it) it fits well. however it i try to lock that in first and then push the other side of the mad in it doesn go in well and if it does it get stuck with the mag release clamp. what should i do??? also can i leave the mag stuck in there and just use stripper clips to load???

thank you

Make sure you've got the bolt locked back, or else it won't go in.

Need to have the bolt open to insert or remove mag. In some instances this can require 2 hands and a foot... do yourself a favor, ditch the cheap add-on and go back to factory mag... been there, done that :D

and yes you could still use the stripper clips ;)

im stuck with the new one

i already paid for the new mag and dont want to send it back to BC, therefore im stuck with it. i also like the fact that it seems to balance the rifle better, as well as being asethetically pleasing (it looks more like a AK).

Also i have the bolt back (open). it just seems that once i pull back the mag release and put the mag in it gets stuck i can pull the mag release back but the mag stays stuck. occassionaly i can yank it out but with a rediculous amount of force.

The mag will need to be fitted to your rifle, as the tolerences are different on all rifles. File small amounts at a time off the rear locking tab until it fits easily in the rifle.

Locking tab

i dont think its a problme of the locking tab. i can pul back the mag release and then shove the mag in with the tab fiting "properly" in place and the the mag release fiting properly over it. then it get stuck!! i can pull the mag release back past the tab fine but the mag is still stuck. Im not too worried because i intent to get a Tapco T6 and i hope then it wont be such a problme. what do you think???
thanks

I had same problem, a little filing like high cal. says will work and also maybe your mag release needs alittle work, lubed/filed or replaced. I tinkered with mine alittle and got them all working awesome but it did take some tinkering.

is the steel magazine painted? if so sand or light file the area that goes into the mag well.

The next step is to remove a bit from the front locking tab, have a good look first to see where its binding, then adjust accordingly. The Tapco stocks are larger in the magwell to accomodate synthetic mags.
