The SKS has been tortured by millions of illiterate conscripts since it was first issued. The real torture is watching that twit fumble around with the rifle.
"...flames coming from that wood..." Two 20 round mags, rapid, out of a C1A1 will cause the forestock to smoulder.

Exactly! Because my $200 POS Russkie SKS/Chinese D can be just as reliable as a $1500 POS AR/M1A, I'm impressed.

x2! That's the appeal of the sks. It's not the best at anything, but it's cheap, tough, and accurate enough in a pinch.

plus I think the sks is the cheapest centerfire to shoot (around $180 for 1120 rds).

A box (20 rds) of 338 Lapua Mag cost almost the same as a "crate" of surplus x39 ammo, I can shoot all day long without burning a hole in my wallet!

Accurate enough to shoot at 200 meter 10 x 10 inch gongs, and actually hit them sometimes

On Tuesday June 23, we'll see how good the SKS rifles and BC/Lower Mainland SKS shooters really are at the POCO informal gong funshoot.
