SKS Accuracy

was getting anywhere from 3 to 6 inch groups bench rested with optics on mine. using.... Bulgarian surplus i believe.

about to crack open a russian can, see if sasha likes it better from the motherland.

Great video, Bob! Jerry and I could be twins, except for the mustache and the shooting skill. I have neither.

So the early '90s were when SKS became available in Canada as well? I have been wishing that I knew about these in the '70s but they weren't available yet!

I have a few. The best for accuracy is a really beat up 1953 refurb. The worst are two pristine 1954's.

With a scope 2-3" groups are typical with the best of mine. I basically gave up on accuracy because I couldn't be bothered to find a scope mount that would maintain zero between range sessions and would allow cleaning. Maybe I will revisit the effort one day.

It's because Stalin passed away , assemblers getting relaxed and quality falls down .

Try a Chinese [26] built on Russian tooling with the blade bayonet. My son's is quite accurate..........Harold

Hitting red solo cups from 50-75 yrds while standing off hand with my Chinese 326 is pretty standard for that gun and all I need. I don't bother with prone or bench shooting with a SKS.

Anywhere from 2 inches to infinity at 100 yards. Buy one shoot it with a couple types of good quality (non surplus) ammo and see what you get. If it's acceptable keep it, if not, sell it and buy another and try it out. And so on until you get one to suit your needs.

They are great plinkers and nice bush guns, just not the best precision rifle. They are great fun though.

Minute of man at 100 yards. Well maybe minute of head at 100 on a good day with luck and the shooting gods smiling on me. Good enough for -40C and people shooting at me. da.

I have no prob with any of mine at 100 yards. Jaut added this red dot reflex sight from cabelas and mounted on the scout scope (highly recommend!) Stays at zero. Find out how sight works soon. I'll let you know.
