Hi folks...
Do any of them actually work and are reliable ?...steel,plastic..?..Not that they are of any particular use at 5, but I do like the SKS D....

Cheers...R...

I have the plastic Tapco mags and the metal pro mag ones
The Tapco ones are the best ones I think but you may have to sand a bit of plastic around the duckbill part too make it go in the gun so it latches properly
The metal pro mag mags are ok but I find they can bend too easily and get bent out of shape

There's a bit of 'sanding' (I used a small file) to round-off the mag area around the lips, Not the 'bill'. Also a bit to allow Stripper clips to enter the mag more easily. They work fine for me for ca 10 years.

Tapco 20rnd are the only ones I'd recommend/had success with. Not sure, thought I heard they don't make them anymore? I'll have to look that up..
*EDIT* Looks like still available..but most places -outta stock- Tenda has. but for $52! Seems pricey.

I have had a couple of the plastic ones and both broke. As there is no increase in the number of rounds you can shoot I would not bother.

About the only ones that work are the Tapco mags ; and they went out of business / production quite some time ago . Best to look around for some used , or new old stock Tapco mags if you want dependability . .

I found the old tapco were the best like others said. I've broken I don't know how many of the other brands, or they have trouble feeding. As someone who has blown tons of money in multiple sks rifles in the past, just stick with the original mag nowadays.
