I have one of the earliest SKS and found that it's NOT VERY accurate with
Czech.surplus ammo(<BARN-SIZE group,8"to the right at 100Y.)
In the past this gun shoots Silver Box Norinco with very good results.
On the other hand, same Czech.surplus shoot excellent off CZ-858 and VZ-52/57. all other kinds performed poor in these guns, except Russian Golden Bear.
Did anyone try E.German surplus in their Chinese SKS and CZ rifle?
I found this ammo at last Ancaster show and the guy tells me it's corrosive. My CZ is redone in to target configuration,so I'm looking to find the ammo which will performed well in both guns.I will be glad If you have experience with other surplus ammo in both guns and share it with me.

Thanks in advance for replies.

Maybe you got a bad batch? My Norinco SKS shoots very well with the Czech surplus. So well that I can't stop buying the stuff! LOL I hope Epps gets some in again soon.

Is it that black painted crap?

If so I found it shot garbage groups, and felt underloaded...bullet drop was like 6 feet below the target at 200 yards.
While the other stuff pictured (South African) was dead on target at that range.

PS The best SKS ammo I have used so far is Fiocchi. :)

Got the South African (comes in a red plastic box), and Fiocchi stuff last year at Pullens in Victoria.

Same with the Black CZ stuff which most likely came through the regular Marstar supplying all the middle men channels before it got to his store.

Nope. It's actually high power stuff and the bullets are copper in colour not black. The casing is a shade of green. I am sure many can attest to the quality of this stuff. Here's a pic of the crate and ammo itself...

I see your problem...You have two extra cases.
I'd be glad to do a 1120 round test fire with one if you want...just to be sure.
:D

LOL! If I was rich I'd give every fellow CGNer a case! The stuff is a blast to shoot. I have a plan to sell my house within the next 5-10 years and move to a property that I can legally plink away on whenever I feel like it. By that time I should have quite a few rounds ready for watermelons, tin cans, etc. :D

Just don't throw out the wooden ammo cases...they are pretty handy. :)

where did you find that SA surp???? ive never seen any brass cased 7.62x39mm surplus for sale....

From a Gunshop/smith here in Victoria (Pullens), I have no idea were he got it from. 50 rounds in each handy little red plastic box. The stripper clip is one of many I reuse from the CZ stuff.

Uh, where do I get this from? It's making my eyes VERY hungry!

I don't know why I am telling you this because I don't want them to run out again! :D I bought my 3 crates from Epps for 179 dollars each! 1120 rounds per crate. I bought the last crate they had a couple of months ago. I called a couple of days ago and they said they had all kinds in again still for 179. I think I am going up to get another tomorrow.
