I plan to use my SKS this year for deer hunting and intend to hit the bush with a fouled barrel. Question is, if I go to the range and do some shooting with surplus ammo then finish off with 5 rounds of modern soft point, will that be enough to flush the barrel of the corrosive material from the surplus ammo? Or should I just do a complete cleaning after the surplus ammo and then foul the barrel with the modern ammo?

No, 5 rounds of non corrosive won't clean your barrel. Def clean after corrosive ammo, then use your modern ammo when your out in the bush for extended periods.

Use your hunting ammo to foul the bore, then check to see where your cold bore shots are landing. It might be more expensive but the 2 ammo's could have much different POI. IIRC Czech surplus is in the 2200 FPS range while S&B is 2450 FPS. This will cause the S&B to shoot higher POI. I dont know what velocity the others are but Hornady is 2350 w/ a higher BC bullet which changes things as well. Like any hunting rifle, trigger time ensures clean kills

I fired off 5 rounds of the soft point hunting loads I picked up, can't remember the brand off hand and too lazy to go look. The poi was off from the surplus loads, hitting ~4 inches right and 2 high at 50 yards. Not great, but not horrible either. Still good enough for the area and distance in which this gun will be used in, all shots would be no further than 50 at the most.
