SKS and surplus ammo.

I am in a habit of over oiling my rifles when I put them away, and then wipe them dry before before going to the range. Years of practice in the military and upset armours when they see traces of rust.

You must have a ~1950. I believe they switched to free floating because spring loaded could not reliably ignite the hard military primers.

I got hosed on a '54 at CDN Tire - was actually a '50 with a '54 receiver cover. I plan to use commercial hunting ammo in that one (or sell at a loss with full disclosure).

Can anyone confirm that a 1951+ free-floating bolt assembly will work in a 1950 SKS?
