SKS/AR Scopes by BSA

Oh wow.
Nice find Ftaview
Now who ever buys one of these please post back a review here.

Well the catch will be to find this item in stock, then one could possibly do a review....LOL

I will swing by the Mississauga store tomorrow (long lunch.....) and see if they at least have it in the store....

This might work out better than the Bushnell Red Dot Acog type scope I was thinking of getting...

They have them in stock now. $69 for the cheap option with scope mount and 139 (I think) for the higher end BSA scope kit. Empirically verified 30 minutes ago (14/4/2010 @ 12:00 pm)

I have one of those BSA stealth scopes (the top model) for my cheap guns. I don't like to mount overpriced scopes on sport .303s and sks. I like it.

Warning - You have to file down the mount in the box to be able to mount on your SKS.

I bought one earlier this week and found that out... When I talked to LeBaron's they said, yes it needs to be modified to fit your gun - apparently they were only just told that by the distributor of the product.

Yep, I forgot to mention that in my post too. I picked my scope package up because it was cheap and I liked the "ranger reticle" on the stealth scope.
When fitting the reciever cover mount I found that it caught on the left side.
It was an easy fix, I pulled out my dremel and went to town. It's easy to assume it's the pegs at the bottom of the reciever cover, but after closer inspection it was the rounded left corner of the cover itself. Carefully not to hit the pegs, I touched up the dastardly out of spec corner and was rewarded with a solid fit.

Though I don't put much faith in those types of reciever covers it's a relatively quick way to add a non-smith rail to your SKS, mine is a tight enough fit that it may just work. I'll let you know after I hit the range a few more times. The reticle is pretty cool for a cheap scope too.

Does anyone have any experiance mounting these scopes to a non-receiver style mount - say a Choate mount?

I made the misfortune of buying the BSA kit before doing some research. I have since bought a Choate mount, but i'm curious of the quality of the optic itself, as i know the supplied mount is virtually all but worthless.

The link above only reviews the optic mounted to the receiver cover which in reality would produce the same result if it were a $2000 scope mounted in the same fashion.

Thanks CGN'ers!

this is what i have done. This was a very economical way to get a scope on SKS. And i was satisfied with it.
the last three pictures is my setup for VZ585. This scope is actually a crossbow scope, but since it is short, it works well for SKS or VZ since the cases are ejected almost straight up.

PS: Anything installed on dust cover, will not hold zero.

Thats all good n' such, but does nothing to address my question. hahah

BSA Tactical Weapon Series 4 x 30 SKS Scope - Is it reasonable at holding zero when mounted to a solid mount? Thanks.

if i had to guess...i have two chinese scopes, and they hold zero, so BSA (i think it is made in china as well, but supposed to be a step up from NCStar) should work well for you, as i already said i even have a crossbow scope on and it works well. It is the mount you have to worry about, the mount that comes with BSA kit is useless for any type of meaningful accuracy. Another thing you have to worry about is the length of the scope, if it is too long the spent casings will hit it. BSA looks a lot like my cross bow scope. so BSA should be fine, but you will probably need to mount it in the most rearward position, and then the eye relive becomes a problem, and then you will need a rubber butt to increase the length of pull :)) you see it never ends :) there is very nice short scope which is perfect for SKS by BARSKA, but it is prohibited for export from USA. so with any other stuff it is a trade off.
