SKS ArchAngel stock

I love my Archangel Nomad stock I got from Hical...so I know they use good materials etc.

I wonder what the advantages of this will be over the ATI...which even has a couple rails?

I will be choosing one or the other from you guys when the time comes....just curious.
 
You need to decide between this or an ati stock?!?!?! Really? There is no comparison

Aesthetics alone put this stock far above ATI or Tapco in my opinion, not because it sort of mimics the AK, but because when installed it doesn't look as much like you slapped a random receiver into something it was not designed for, the front sight and gas system just looks better as basic resemblance to another soviet rifle of the era, with a modern tactical butt-stock rather than an M4/M16 clone collapsible...it also looks like the pistol grip is molded, so not having a screw on pistol grip is key, cause you're not unscrewing and re-torqueing a screw every time you need a good cleaning, as the pistol grip and fore stock is what you're holding onto when firing, as long as the receiver fits very snug in the stock, it could be a stable platform. I've heard and seen horror stories of loose aftermarket stocks, loose pistol grips etc. which is not good for accuracy or consistency, as both of those rely heavily on the stability of the firearm...even a loose AR upper receiver kills its normally more than adequate precision.

The pictures posted of the prototypes don't show it with rails, but you can add rails to almost anything, be it a stock, or receiver. I personally would not want a tapco stock because I think they look weird...the ATI stocks look even worse, again I've heard bad things about the pistol grip.

for me to even consider this stock if: removing the receiver cover without removing the receiver from the stock was as easy as the original stock, there was cleaning kit storage, and had a bayonet cut-out. Even then I would have to have a surplus of money that I could not think of anything else to spend it on, which would be never. it would not be in my top 10 things to save up for, but that's just me...many SKS owners will buy one on credit, and pay it off later. I personally like my SKS's as they are...completely original. Pistol gripped rifles are nice, but for the price I could have a whole other rifle, or a case of ammo.
 
I have two SKS's, one pristine Russian that will stay that way and one old beater Russian that is getting completely worked over. I expect it will be much more fun than the all original one. I'm actually quite glad this stock has no bayo cut out, they look stupid with a modern stock and even when you take the bayonet off you still have the lug...which you practically have to cut off. Which I will. Same for the cleaning kit. And really, if you're taking the rifle apart to clean it, you should be taking it out of the stock anyway.
