SKS at Canadian Tire Owen Sound

Exactly, ctc is woven into the Canadian fiber, and if people just walk by the guns and ammo in this store, subconsciously they think it must be ok and (normal) if you can buy them at every ctc! Exposure! It will help re normalize the long gun to Canada the way it was!

Indeed. As a kid I remember all Can Tire stores had guns and ammo. Then it just sorta disappeared. Would be nice to see more and more bring them back, instead of the wannabe pellet guns and paintball markers. Yes it would go a long way in changing public perception...

Princess Auto used to sell fire arms as well. would be cool to see the strange ones they would dig up…
merry Christmas all!!!

Lake Huron Rod and Gun is actually the place I got my first rifle which was an SKS! I never knew they had surplus ammo though! Do you know what their prices are like?

they have corrosive and non
the corrosive was on par with what i paid at several other retailers here, and no shipping costs :)
the non corrosive is MFS, and can be had in individual paper wrapped 20's with no stripper clips, or by the crate, not sure of the crate costs.
call brad or one of the other guys up and ask, they have a whole barrel of sks' for 179 or 189 too....
ill be going there shortly perhaps lol
they have tapco mags too

A Mooresburg boy here - one room school in Marmion then Desboro public school then Chesley High then off to Alberta then settled in NW Ontario for 30 years.

+1 Well put..

Passing through N.B. from New York there was an sks sale from a sponsor $149. each! I couldn't make it to their store before closing so called ahead to the freddy ctc price matched, got 2 55/56 sks birch stock, black bayo, nice. Plus got $30 in ctc money back, so most of the tax was covered, these guys won't let you in back to pick through though!
It's getting better, we need ctc to become a sponsor here!

Thanks for the info Jager. I've seen them in there but never really had the time to ask for the cabinet to be opened.

I remember a picture someone posted of a CT store in Edmonton with an MG34. If I saw one of those locally, I'd probably invest in it on the spot. Probably for the best though.

Last time I bought a crate of Czech from Lake Huron Rod and gun I think it was $199 for 1200. I think the prices are still the same. LHRaG still has refurbed SKSs. They had them priced @ $199 for a while but they are back down to $179. A bit more of a drive though.

On top of that it'd be great to see CT , which here is locally managed , kick Crapmarts arse in at least one category ! I've bought plenty from the CTs in Leduc and Vegreville . The Veg one has some catching up to do but they are getting more in slowly but surely .

I just picked up my SKS at the CT in Renfrew. The guy at the counter knew his stuff! He had one completely stripped for me on the counter just to show me what to clean. Mine happens to be a no year stamp Tula. Out of the box it seems to be pretty accurate, but I was fairly close. Need to stretch things out to see how well it shoots, but so far I am happy. Also bought a Murray's firing pin from HiCal. More test firing to do!!

The CT in Leduc, Alberta sells firearms too but I wish the CT's in Edmonton and St.Albert did too. I guess the owners aren't man enough...

More than likely logistics .. would you spend all the funds required to install a gun sales counter, licence, insure and compete in the Alberta market place against the existig established competition ? . You can see from other posts CTC supply lines to not even offer surplus ammo .. no money to be made here unless you also want to hire an extra person just to chase down supplies, and how would you pull clients from their established sales locations .. no money to be made from a few disgruntled people ..

If in a major center like Edmonton people would still go for the discounts and the choice, everything CTC would not have. JMHO

mossberg 500 shotguns, rem 700 sps, savage axis, a few savage 64 semi auto 22's, and ammo for all of those, lots of camping and hunting accessories
didnt see any nice bows though
do have arrows and bolts

I just came back from the CTC in Clayton park (Halifax west). They just put up a gun stand with a few shotguns .22's and a handful of sks, cool , I talked to the Manager and he said he just brought these in as a beginning ! He has a gaggle of rifles and ammo on order, coming soon, there will be a whole aisle dedicated to firearms! He said he wants to get into it big time and would like feedback on what to bring in. I advised him to look at this site and become a sponsor if that's possible!
