Hi, question for member who have these stocks.
i want to buy a ati or a tapco stock.

which is the best between the two stocks?

The ati have a great look, but i'm not sure about the folding lock mechanism. I'm affraid about wobbling in the lock

What your experience?

Thank you for your reponse

The ATI folding mechanism is plastic on plastic. I havnt seen one after an extended period of use but there's no way that would hold up in the long term. Once it got rounded off at all you'd have the buttstock flipping around all flaccid like. Tapco is sturdier. I had one on mine for a couple years before I upgraded to a CZ 858. Neither are perfect but the tapco has been at least for myself nicer to hold, didn't require work to open up the mag well to accept tapco magazines, and the screw retaining the pistol grip is a little more stout. Still a metal screw into plastic, but the tapco is much larger than the wimpy little one ATI uses.

Yes Lyman, plastic...

And to the archangel I havnt held the SKS one yet, but given my experience with other models, I don't see it being insanely better.

Enter purist that will say leave it stock.

I have a job to take any of these these plastic stocks seriously, none of them have quality. I would be happy to buy a quality folding stock made with steel and wood if such a thing were ever produced, but all the plastic $hit ( ATI, Tapco, Archangel ) presently on offer is just that.

Tapco over ati. Heard too many bad things about ati. When i purchased mine the store had an sks in each stock for me to try. Based on just holding it in the store i took the tapco home and didnt look back.

I don't have an archangel sks stock but I do have their stock for the mosin and the material they use is not your average plastic it is much more rigid yet still flexible I'd say its on par or better material for stocks then wood. If I were to get one I'd go with the archangel even though its not folding.

It is a toss up between the Tapco and the ATI.

They both have collapsible M4 style stocks.
The ATI folds, however you might need to take some material out with a rasp, in order to fit a Tapco magazine.
The Tapco doesn't fold and is magazine ready.

Most people fit the ATI, then try folding it a couple of times after they fit it in and that is pretty much the extant to which they fold it.
Unless you are mounting and dismounting from an APC every thirty minutes, I don't think you can wear out the folding mechanism without a lot of effort.
In other words, don't practice trigger control watching the parliamentary channel and getting overly worked up.

I want an Archangel eventually too.
SKS are cheap enough to get another rather than swap out current stock.

You can get the ATI with the non side folding stock. There was a guy at my range recently with the ATI stock on his SKS. It looked ok I guess. I had a Tapco Intrafuse stock. The one with the bayonet cut out. The issues I had with it were, I had to remove the safety to get the trigger group to click in, The rifle would pop out of the stock every so often, even with the original magazine, the bolt carrier sometimes did not close all the way and required a slap to get it to shut. I tried getting the stock to work but in the end, the original wood stock was way better for my SKS. It's either every SKS is slightly different or every stock is slightly different or maybe even a bit of both since a lot of people have had good fortune with the aftermarket stocks.

Your mileage may very.

since hical hasent beat me to it...ARCHANGEL lol... Ive tried both, HATED the ATI stuff, found it wasn't tight and was very loose and just felt weak and crappy.... Ended up messing up the tapco grip from over tightening the pistol grip... Very easily done as it screws into the plastic stock not a solid way to go... Makes you not want to take the rifle apart...

My archangel sks stock will be here in a couple of days... I play on taking lots of pics and posting my First thoughts and a quick range day with it...

Tapco has been perfect for me, been installed for 8 years, no problem. On a Russian SKS. My brother has similar on Chinese SKS, same fit, no issue.
Only "difficult" part is the gas piston part, but doable.
