SKS Ban ?

In the UK they can hunt at night with lights and the use of suppressors on large bore rifles is almost mandatory.
Yet most of their other laws are not very firearm owner friendly.

Soo, what you're saying is, we're criminals in the waiting?

thats completely moronic.

take away steak knives, we all just might get stabby out of nowhere.

take away the automobile, we might decide to start running over random people.

What a load of crap.

One Terrorist used a car to kill soldiers.
That seems to be forgotten.??
Maybe we will all be Politically correct and Ban Cars.
I think someone out there is going to start making 80% SKS receivers.
Probably will be a millionaire overnight.

SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, Que. – A Quebecer shot dead by police after running down two Canadian soldiers told a 911 operator he was acting in the name of Allah, a police source tells QMI Agency.

I wonder how many SKS' have actually been used in the commission of a crime in Canada?
Especially considering the number of years the rifle has been legal and available to Canadians.
That would be a good number to have when the push comes.

And one knife was used to kill 4 students in Calgary.
And one hammer was used to kill and injure 8 people on an Indian reserve.

etc., etc.....

I wonder how they are going to track down 30 000 rifles, they are going to need 30 000 search warrants and maybe more since they are all non restricted. Our only hope are the judges that protect the charter of rights and the gun store owners to not give out private information to the rcmp, as they might be facing law suits if they do. Keep all your receipts for any work or accessories that you have put into your sks's and the others. You will be able to take the rcmp to small claims, only if you don't just freely give them up. Let them get a warrant, let them take them, smile , be friendly and sue them. Its 120 to file and 100 for the process server, include all receipts. They might be able to take them, but since the rcmp will be the ones executing this, you will be able to take the rcmp to small claims. The liberals will be doing a lot of deficit spending, and the public will catch on. We have a legal fight infront of us, don't be scared, property law in Canada is very strong. Flood the courts, make the rcmp' s budget shrink. You can also file an online rcmp complaint, as to the the theft of your property by the members that showed up at your home, might not get anywhere but it will flood their system, attaching an advocates name will push the complaint thru to the intake officer.

The Company for which I work has issued a weapons policy.
I will not list all the items which are not allowed.
Brass knuckles, batons, of course firearms.
But you cannot carry a pocket knife which has a blade longer than 3 inches.
This is a employment policy.
Why now?

A number have been used in gang shootings, and more have been seized in raids.
A D model featured in a multiple homicide in the NWT.

Is the SKS widely used in crime? No.

Full auto conversion is a red herring. It is used as a justification, but it is pretty much irrelevant from a public safety standpoint.
The law does not refer to ease of conversion. There is the SCoC precedent, the Hasselwander decision, that establishes that a readily convertible firearm is a full auto firearm, for legal purposes.
Remember that the purpose of 12-6 prohibition was to prohibit 2/3 of the handguns registered at that time.

Isn't the reason the the RCMP test guns for literally years, is that they are trying to find ways to make them go fully automatic? Isn't the fact that they have obviously missed this trick for all these years proof that they are incompetent and incapable testing firearms.

It's the shoelace trick. It's dead easy, anyone can do it.

And it works with any gun with a reciprocating charging handle (Garand, M-14, Mini-14, M1 Carbine, 10-22, and on and on and on)...

If they used this to justify banning the SKS, we're well and truly boned. About 2/3 of semi-autos are susceptible to the trick.

And I believe, there is a law already on the books that carries up to a 10 year conviction if caught pulling this sort of shate...

The only way, I fear, to stop these fishing trips will be through the courts. And that takes money & expertise.

Once again, you're using logic and rationale. The gun grabbers WON'T. Their argument will be emotional and they will be appealing to those same sheeple that voted them into power. This is why every single one of you guys need to join gun organization (CSSA,CCFR, not so sure about NFA these days) and start building legal defense/challenge fund if you want to keep shooting your guns. There was a lot of noise made about banning of several thousand CZ's and Swiss', should they come for your SKS', you need to stand up for yourselves. If there is lets say 100-200 thousand SKS's in this country and reasonable number of you guys band together for a class action, it will be relatively inexpensive for individual owner and your chances for success will be much better. If they come for your guns and you do nothing, well, then don't cry later. This is serious, get your a.. up, join an Org, save your money, educate your friends & family members, co-workers etc. We can pretty much expect a barrage of misinformation from garbage factories like CBC, they will try to marginalize us like Jews in Nazi Germany. Get moving boys, stand up for your guns. If you give them up, well then you can go and pound sand.
Cheers

I sincerely doubt they didn't know about this trick. It's been around since Jesus was a Cowboy. They're just using the Moncton shooter's confession statements to drum up support for something they've wanted to do for a long, long, time.

Yup:

PART 4PROHIBITED DEVICES
Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9

1. Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.

So doing the shoelace trick gets you hard time anyway. So don't do it, mm-k? (not saying anyone in this thread would be foolish enough to try it).

Going after guns that are susceptible to this is ludicrous. How many crimes have been committed doing this? None. How long have people known about it? Decades.

I am thinking about poor guys who colected all years and models of SKS, how they are feeling. I have only 5 SKS.

The RCMP has wanted to ban all semis for years. We haven't had any indication yet that the Liberals will do it. It might well happen, but it is far from a given.
